Violence Is Golden?

The destruction of the past and remaking of the future is the essential goal of leftism. They are at war with all that exists today. Our task is to recognize that and fight back, defending civilization.

Karoline Leavitt’s fiery defense of the president’s actions made it clear that this White House has zero patience for media gaslighting when it comes to violent left-wing agitators. It’s absolutely sick.

Hopefully, they're all awake (and not too sore) following Wednesday evening's Congressional Baseball Game, which, by the way, the Republicans won (again) 13-2. That's 5/5.

White House What's Up

Fresh off attending the opening night performance of "Les Misérables" at the Kennedy Center, President Donald Trump will participate in a bill-signing ceremony late morning in the East Room. The measures to be signed include three congressional resolutions barring California's electric vehicle sales mandates and diesel engine rules, disapproved under the Congressional Review Act.

Later in the afternoon, he'll sign executive orders in the Oval Office. Then, in the evening, he'll participate in the Congressional Picnic on the South Lawn.

No word yet on whether Vice President JD Vance, who also attended Wednesday night's performance, enjoyed the musical that was not "Sweeney Todd."

Full Court Press...

Big court day. We've got opinions coming out from the Supreme Court at 10:00 AM Eastern. (And I'm still not done with last week's Skinny on SCOTUS, yeesh.) We've got the hearing at 1:30 PM Pacific on the California governor's motion for an emergency restraining order in Newsom v. Trump, after which, Judge Charles Breyer will presumably issue a ruling. Stay tuned!

COMING ATTRACTIONS

Things are gearing up for Saturday, which, between the Army's 250th birthday celebration and the Left's "No Kings Day" shenanigans, is sure to be...something.

MORNING MUSING

Like many, I was truly saddened at Wednesday's news of Brian Wilson's passing. I was not a huge Beach Boys fan, growing up, though I certainly enjoyed their music. Frankly, I didn't give it a ton of thought — it was just sort of always there, pleasantly, in the background. I didn't have any of their albums (or 8-tracks or cassettes). But then they released the "Pet Sounds Sessions" on the 30th anniversary of the album...and I bought it. And I listened to it over and over, because it was THAT good.

The first track is "Wouldn't It Be Nice," a seemingly innocent musing about a couple imagining a romantic future together. There were layers, of course, beneath that — Brian Wilson was a complicated soul in addition to being a musical genius. But, as I'm sure is true for many, the tune's been bouncing around my brain since hearing the news, and it calls to mind so many things it's pleasant to contemplate, like, for instance, the return of sanity and common sense to our national discourse.

I could start listing all sorts of things that would be "nice," but I suspect that list could go on and on, and this is supposed to be a Morning "Minute." It's hard, though, not to hear that song and feel wistful. And now, perhaps, even a bit more so.

Rest in peace, Brian.

LIGHTER FARE

I didn't know there was a National Corn Day, but I'm glad Rico got to enjoy it.
