Raking in the Dough: Trump Boasts Massive $50M Fundraising Haul in Palm Beach

President Joe Biden may have taken in a pretty penny with his March 28 fundraiser in New York featuring former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, but former President Donald Trump nearly doubled that up Saturday with an impressive $50 million haul in Palm Beach at the home of hedge fund billionaire John Paulson.

Obama Headlines a Star-Studded Biden Fundraiser and Worries About Trump Victory

As Brittany Sheehan reported ahead of Saturday's gala:

The gathering is expected to host about 100 guests, in what hedge fund manager and host Paulson says is a show of "overwhelming" donor support.
In a statement, Paulson said,
The response to our fundraising efforts has been overwhelming, and we’ve raised over $43 million so far. There is massive support amongst a broad spectrum of donors.

Some attendees have contributed the maximum allowed amount of $814,600, deemed "Chairman Level," which comes with a seat at Trump’s table. A donation of $250,000 per person signifies the guest as a “Host Committee” contributor. Both options include a photo opportunity and a personalized copy of Trump’s coffee table book showcasing photographs from his administration, titled ”Our Journey Together.”
While a record-breaking haul of around $50 million is anticipated, Trump campaign officials have said they do not expect to raise as much as the Democrats overall but will have the money they need.

Now, the reports indicate that the event exceeded expectations, bringing in $50.5 million.

Fox News' Madison Scarpino reported from Palm Beach Sunday morning, telling Martha MacCallum:

Trump is calling it 'the biggest night in fundraising history.' The fundraiser at hedge fund billionaire John Paulson's home raked in over $50 million, according to the RNC. That's up from early estimates of $43 million, and nearly double what President Biden raised at his New York City fundraiser with former Presidents Obama and Clinton.
This was the first major fundraiser for Trump and the RNC since he became the party's presumptive presidential nominee. Trump said his supporters are contributing to a cause that will restore faith in our country.

Addressing reporters outside the gala, Trump said:

People are just wanting change. Rich people want it, poor people want it, everybody wants change. The country is really doing poorly. We're a laughingstock all over the world, and we're going to get that changed very quickly.

Some of the big names featured at Saturday's event included oil tycoon Harold Hamm and casino mogul Steve Wynn. Former primary rivals Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND), and Vivek Ramaswamy also attended.
