All the talk of Iowa lately has been focused on Monday's caucuses and the GOP presidential race, which RedState has, of course, been following closely and covering.

But Tuesday, came news that another Iowa mainstay, namely the Hawkeye State's senior Senator, Republican Chuck Grassley, isn't faring so well.

Grassley's office released a statement indicating that the 90-year-old is hospitalized. The statement is rather brief:

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is receiving antibiotic infusions at an area hospital to treat an infection. He is in good spirits and will return to work as soon as possible following doctors’ orders.

On the other hand, it's more forthrightness than we've gotten out of the Pentagon and White House regarding the condition of Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.

Grassley, first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1980, became the eldest serving senator following the passing of Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) in late September. That hasn't kept him from being a bulldog when it comes to investigating corruption — particularly that of the DOJ and President Joe Biden and his family.

While the nature of the infection Grassley is battling is unclear, the good news is that he appeared to be fit and happily enjoying a blizzard (of the edible variety) on Saturday.

So, hopefully, the antibiotics do the trick and the good senator is back in action at the Capitol soon.
