'Masterful': Brandon Gill Grills Abortion Advocate at FACE Act Hearing, Leaves No Stone Unturned

GOP Rep. Brandon Gill (TX-26) has been impressive in his first term in Congress, as evidenced in part by the types of legislation and resolutions he's introduced since his term started, which have focused on issues like protecting our borders and trying to have activist Judge James Boasberg impeached.

In addition to that, Gill has developed a knack for laying traps that his political opposition falls into, which in turn enables him to go for the coup de grâce. This was demonstrated with precision during a Tuesday hearing from the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government, where the topic was "From Tool to Weapon: The FACE Act and the Dangers of Federalizing Criminal Law."

The goal was to "examine the Biden-Harris Administration's weaponization of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act and the Constitutional implications of over-federalizing criminal law." But Gill had something slightly different in mind for the Democrat witness.

American University Washington College of Law Professor Jessica Waters was there to speak in defense of the FACE Act, to argue that it was constitutionally sound and necessary to protect access to "reproductive health services."

But when it came time for Gill to question Prof. Waters, he focused on the aspect of the abortion debate that makes pro-abortionists the most uncomfortable: the abortion procedures themselves and what they do to unborn life.

Watch below as Gill calmly talks about each procedure one by one and asks her about them, not just by mentioning their technical names, but also by specifically describing in gruesome detail how they rip the tiny unborn baby's body apart.

A clearly uncomfortable Waters repeatedly refused to answer as to which one was her "favorite," and instead kept trying to pivot back to the FACE Act. Gill never let her off the hook, no matter how much she squirmed, while acknowledging at one point that "I wouldn't want to talk about this either if I were you, because it's barbaric and evil."

Watch (sensitivity/content warning for the squeamish):

Gill received a lot of plaudits on X for the exchange, with some calling it "masterful" and others correctly pointing out that we needed a lot more Brandon Gills in Congress.

I speak from firsthand experience on how this tactic works, because I was once pro-abortion myself in my young and stupid years. Like a lot of people, I only thought of abortion in the abstract, based in large part on the media deliberately framing it around "women's health," while ignoring what the inhumane details were behind terminating the pregnancy. I'm thankful to God and the patience of others for my eventual wake-up call.

Will Prof. Waters' opinion be changed on this? It's possible (and I pray it will), but I doubt it. But if even just one person watching that hearing either had their mind changed or, at the very least, began to think of the issue from a different perspective, then it was worth it. Most minds aren't changed overnight on this issue. It often takes baby steps (no pun intended) and a lot of patience.

But it happens more than you think, and committed pro-lifers like me who used to think the exact opposite are living proof.
