Earlier, RedState reported on the announcement from Tesla CEO and Twitter/X owner Elon Musk in which he talked about how his time with DOGE and the Trump-Vance administration "as a special government employee" was drawing to a close at the end of the month.
"As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending," Musk posted Wednesday on his social media platform. "The @DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government."
Though Musk had previously confirmed in late April that he would be stepping back "significantly" from his DOGE responsibilities soon to focus on other projects, he didn't rule out spending "a day or two per week on government matters for as long as the President would like me to do so." Trump officials have asserted that Musk will still serve in an advisory capacity to the POTUS for the foreseeable future.

With Musk's DOGE role winding down, the Musk Derangement Syndrome sufferers on the left and in the mainstream media are predictably spinning it as a "victory" after many of his unhinged critics repeatedly demanded over the last couple of months that Trump confirm Musk would be stepping down effective May 30th as that is the last day of the 130 days he could serve as a designated "special government employee" (within a period of 365 consecutive days).
Here's Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA), for instance, yada yadaing while presumably being chauffeured about how Musk had been "kicked to the curb":
"Kicked to the curb" is what Virginia voters should have already done to Mark Warner.
But as far as Elon Musk goes, getting "kicked to the curb" is not what happened. Like at all:
He could be, but he has a troubling pattern of not being honest.
It's too bad he wasn't honest about this, either:
Beyond Warner, far-left Rep. Greg Casar (D-TX) has even gone so far as to threaten to use lawfare-style tactics against Musk in the event Democrats retake the majority in 2026, insinuating that though Musk technically is ending his time with DOGE that he's "not really gone" and will still, in Casar's view, cause trouble for the woke left and abuse his close professional relationship with Trump.
As I've said before, Musk can and will serve in an informal advisory role with Trump for as long as they both want him to, and there's not much, if anything, Democrats can do about it beyond ranting about it on MSNBC. It sure would be popcorn-worthy to see the Trump administration's response if Musk's detractors tried, though.
In related news, isn't it fascinating (but not surprising) that the party that complains the most about "disinformation" is the one that most often can be found engaging in it? One of those (D)ifferent when a Democrat does it things, I guess.
