Elon Announces Departure From DOGE, Teases What Future Will Bring

Elon Musk's official time with DOGE is ending, as he announced on X.

As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending.

Musk's time with DOGE always had a time limit on it because he was engaged as a "special government employee." That position has a limited amount of work time — 130 days. Musk's time under that would officially come to an end on May 30.

Many thanked him in reply on X for all he had put on the line to do the job. There were protests and violent actions against his company, Tesla, and threats against him personally. He even had a Democrat threatening to investigate him.

He also reposted tweets, including one that referenced how the media would try to portray this as a break from President Donald Trump, when he was always scheduled to end about this time.

In the coming days, legacy media will try to convince you that President Trump and Elon Musk are no longer friends and that’s why Musk left.

He has said he will still advise Trump as he wishes. Trump officials have said he will still be advising Trump.

Musk said that DOGE would continue despite his exit, teasing that it will become a "way of life' in the government.

“Is Buddha needed for Buddhism?” the billionaire said earlier this month when asked who would be next to lead the department.
“Was it not stronger after he passed away?”
“DOGE is kind of a way of life … we make converts all the time,” he added.

As we reported, the first package of DOGE cuts will go to Congress next week in a new bill to be codified. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said they were excited to get them and hoped to save more money for the American people.

On top of that, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth explained that, working with DOGE, they'd identified $5 billion in defense savings in the last two weeks, in addition to the $5 billion DOGE and the DOD had already discovered. Hegseth said they were just getting started.

Elon has started something that, if taken right, can change the very culture of Washington. DOGE is continuing. The secretaries and heads of departments like Hegseth are picking up the torch. It's what we all voted for, and we owe Musk a great debt.
