As RedState reported earlier, actress/singer Selena Gomez posted a video to her Instagram page Monday in which she was sobbing to the point of being hard to understand and in which she was seemingly addressing new illegal immigration policies under the Trump administration related to the repatriations of criminal elements.
“I just wanted to say that I’m so sorry. All my people are getting attacked. The children. I don’t understand,” she said in between sobs, as the words "I'm sorry" appeared in the foreground along with an image of the Mexican flag.
"I'm so sorry. I wish I could do something, but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise," Gomez, who by her own admission is a "proud third-generation American-Mexican," also stated.

At some point, she deleted it and posted in its place a black screen with the words "Apparently it's not okay to show empathy for people " at the bottom of it.

Tom Homan, who is President Donald Trump's border czar, responded accordingly to Gomez's video when asked about it in the middle of a Fox News interview:
"I don't think we've arrested any families. We've arrested public safety threats and national security threats, bottom line. And look, President Trump won the election on this one issue - securing our border and saving lives. What happened on our southern border in the last four years is the biggest national security threat this county has seen, at least in my lifetime."
[...]
"We're gonna do this job, and we're going to enforce the laws of this country. If they don't like it, then go to Congress and change the law."
[...]
"It's all for the good of this nation and we're gonna keep going. No apologies. We're moving forward."

In a Daily Signal interview Homan did shortly before Trump's inauguration, he predicted the activist left would trot out women who were crying to pull at the emotional heartstrings of the American people:
"They're going to show the first crying female, the first crying child..."

Relatedly, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), who is also a staunch advocate for strong border security, tweeted what he and a lot of conservatives were thinking after watching the Gomez video.
"Why were no tears shed for Jocelyn Nungaray? Or Laken Riley? Or Rachel Morin?" he wrote. "Why does Hollywood only cry for murderers & rapists & gang-bangers?"
Why indeed?
