President Trump, speaking Wednesday at the American Business Forum in Miami, made a clear distinction between the Republican Party and the opposition group that just elected a communist as mayor of New York City.
Trump drew very specific battlelines on key issues that separate his administration and the GOP from the Democrats as we head into the pivotal midterm season. His comments serve as a solid blueprint and follow-up to campaign messaging already emerging from congressional Republicans after Zohran Mamdani seized control of the city.
"Remember, I've said, 'We will never have a socialist elected to any post in our country?'" Trump asked the crowd. "I used to say that, and I was right. We skipped socialists and we put in a communist instead."
LOL — @POTUS jokes that NYC skipped socialism, and went straight for communism 🤣

Trump then laid out a practically tailor-made campaign slogan heading into the 2026 midterms. A clear choice for voters.
"After last night’s results, the decision facing all Americans could not be more clear," Trump explained. "We have a choice between communism and common sense. Does that make sense to you? Common sense. It's common sense or communism."

The president proceeded to crystallize the party differences as we advance toward the next political cycle. The next battle in the struggle for the soul of America, waged between those championing common sense and extremist Communists formerly known as Democrats.
"Our opponents are offering an economic nightmare. We are delivering an economic miracle," he said. "We have delivered, in nine months, this is an economic – the biggest investment of funds in a country in history by many times."
"They want higher spending for government and illegal aliens. We want bigger paychecks for American workers and American families. And that’s what we're delivering," Trump continued. "They stand for crime and chaos and corruption, we stand for law and order and justice. Also, strong borders. Boy, do we have strong borders."
"They put America last, we put America first."

And while the mood amongst Republicans and conservatives is dour this afternoon after the New York City mayoral race, President Trump made a promise to the American people.
"As long as I am in the White House, the United States is not going communist in any way, shape, or form ... We're gonna stop this nonsense," Trump promised before pointing out the sad situation forced on voters in the Big Apple.
"You know, I said they were voting last night. You could have a communist or a thug, and they took the communist. It’s pretty amazing," he quipped. "We could have done a little better in terms of candidates."
That ship has sailed for NYC, unfortunately.
President Trump's comments are a further indication that the GOP is aware that hanging Mamdani on Democrat opponents across the country will weigh them down like an albatross. The Democrats are keenly aware of the issues he will cause them in the midterms as well.
A "centrist-left" group called Third Way issued a memo warning that Mamdani is “politically toxic” and his socialist policies “are deeply unpopular in the red and purple places Democrats must win" in 2026.
Voters in those red, purple, and even the blue districts will have to choose a side: communism or common sense.
Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
