Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) continued her seemingly lifelong goal of denigrating the country that accepted her family as a child by suggesting America is becoming a police state. A dictatorship. One of the worst countries in the world.
They say Somalia is nice this time of year. Well, no, they probably don't say that, but you get the point.
Omar made the comments during an interview with "Democracy Now!" late last week.
The congresswoman began by railing against ICE repatriation raids on criminal illegal aliens and ended by pointing to a parade celebrating 250 years of Army service and the history of America.
"We are in the midst of the creation of a police state, where, you know, you have masked, armed men who are in plainclothes that are snatching people off the streets, unwilling to identify themselves," she said. "You have the military being deployed in our streets."
"My god, this is America."
How's about, 'My God, you're an idiot.' Law enforcement is actually enforcing laws for a change, and a parade celebrating the armed services is not a bad thing. And if you think they are, you need to check yourself.
There's a difference between a dictator rolling the military through the streets to suppress the citizenry and a President celebrating history by having a parade.

Omar continued her rant in objection to the Army parade.
"And the same week where we have a president who has deployed the military, who are trained to kill our enemies—not Americans, but our enemies—are in our streets ... " she spat. "Can you imagine that image that is going to be coming out of our country?"
One would imagine it'd be the same image as when Ronald Reagan, Theodore Roosevelt, and JFK celebrated the military with parades. That it was pretty cool, and a reminder of how great our men and women in uniform are.
Omar blathered on:
"I mean, I grew up in a dictatorship, and I don’t even remember ever witnessing anything like that, to have a democracy, a beacon of hope for the world, to now be turned into one of the — you know, one of the worst countries, where the military are in our streets, without any regard for people’s constitutional rights, while our president is spending millions of dollars prompting himself up like a failed dictator with a military parade."
You can watch her entire interview with "Democracy Now!" below if you dare.
Omar, the Representative for Minnesota’s 5th congressional district, moved to the United States in 1995 when she was 12 years old. She and her family fled from the civil war in Somalia and lived in a refugee camp in Kenya for four years before resettling in the United States.
She raised the ire of Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) when, in an op-ed in the New York Times in 2019, Omar whined about allegedly experiencing prejudice in America since day one “as a visibly Muslim woman.”
“The America we arrived in was different from the one my grandfather had hoped to find,” she writes. “The land of opportunity he imagined was in fact full of challenges.”
“She (Omar) has the honor of actually winning a seat in Congress, and she says we’re a terrible country,” Paul said at the time. “I think that’s about as ungrateful as you can get.”
“While I’m not saying we forcibly send her anywhere, I’m willing to contribute to buy her a ticket to go visit Somalia,” Paul added. “I think she can look and maybe learn a little bit about the disaster that is Somalia, that has no capitalism, has no God-given rights guaranteed in the Constitution, and has about seven different tribes that have been fighting each other for the last 40 years.”
“And then maybe after she visited Somalia for a while, she might come back and appreciate America more.”
Does the offer still stand, Senator?
In previous interviews, Omar has blasted Americans, saying “ignorance really is pervasive in many parts of this country.”
She has mocked Americans' fears of Al Qaeda and dismissed 9/11 as an event in which “some people did something.”
She is a disgrace to Congress.
