Amber Matthews, a 23-year-old TikTokker from Montclair, New Jersey, has staked her claim for entry into the dumbest criminals of all-time Hall of Fame.

Matthews not only mistakenly tore down Greek flags hanging outside an incredibly Greek restaurant in town named Efi's Gyro, all the while thinking they were Israeli flags. But the video she posted to social media was used by police to track her down and make an arrest.

She essentially ID'd herself. The level of special here is off the charts.

First off, RedState's own Teri Christoph shared a remarkable video of the incident in which Matthews was seen tearing down Greek flags and decorative lights from the restaurant's outside facade.

She raged using keywords she likely has yet to look up in a dictionary, like "genocide" and "Zionist."

And when Mathews was told the flags she had been ripping down were, in fact, the flag of Greece and not Israel, she had this weapons-grade idiotic response:

What? What is this? Oh, I thought this was Israel. My bad.

Honestly, Amber, you probably should have stopped after the words "I thought." Everything after that was going to be a lie.

"Free Palestine, b----. What you looking at? You know damn well there's a genocide. I'm taking this s--- down," Matthews shouts in the video. "I'm gonna take this one down right here. What are they gonna do? They ain't gonna do nothin'."

Narrator: They did something.

Montclair Police on Thursday announced that Matthews had been identified with the help of the video she posted on TikTok. She has now been charged with bias intimidation and harassment.

“Montclair is a community that strives to treat all individuals with dignity and respect,” police Chief Todd Conforti said, according to the Montclair Local. “I hope this investigation sends a clear message that our agency will not tolerate any form of harassment or discrimination, and offenders will be held accountable for their actions.”

One legal website points out that bias intimidation charges vary greatly in New Jersey, but the lesser charge of fourth-degree bias intimidation carries with it the potential for "a $10,000 fine and up to 18 months in prison."

It's difficult to understate how bone-headed Matthews' actions were. First off, the Greek and Israeli flags only look similar if you ignore the Star of David smack dab in the middle of one, not to mention the significant difference in the number of blue stripes. Other than that, you nailed it.

Two, here's an idea — don't rip things down from any business for any reason. You can always give that a go.

Three, posting videos of yourself committing a crime is dumb. But knowing the police used it as evidence to arrest you is dumber.

On the plus side, however, while an arrest record for being ignorant isn't the best thing in the world, it's practically a resume enhancer at Ivy League universities. So there's hope yet, Amber.
