The Decoy Dan scandal is roiling the Alaska Senate race, and we may see by how much on Tuesday when the election hits.
The Peltola team is denying all knowledge of the alleged scheme to find an additional Dan Sullivan to confuse Alaskan voters. But that isn't stopping the backlash from people upset about it, and that's not going to stop the investigations and inquiry into the matter.
There are federal and state investigations going on, and dozens of subpoenas have gone out in the wake of the new information broken by The New York Times.
But whether they find criminality in the case or not, if the Democrats did this, it's a vile effort to mislead the voters that everyone should condemn. As the report noted, the people involved even allegedly mocked the voters after seeing some voters in a focus group and thinking they could be fooled.
Yet, as we saw with Rep. Suzan DelBene (WA-01), the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), when the hosts grilled her at CNBC, all she would do for a full four minutes was attack Republicans and say that the Peltola campaign denied knowledge of the scheme. The hosts pointed out that The New York Times report brought the receipts with text messages and plenty of sources to back it up.
Fox News Digital decided to do an interesting test. Exactly how many Democrat lawmakers that they reached out to would condemn this alleged action by the Peltola campaign and the DSCC? What would be the response of the party that is always bleating about protecting democracy?
The answer was bleak.
While prominent Democrats have spent years warning about threats to democracy, dozens of lawmakers and governors who endorsed Alaska Senate candidate Mary Peltola have declined to respond to Fox News Digital's questions about a reported effort to confuse voters and potentially cost Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan his seat. [....]
Fox News Digital reached out to 42 Democratic lawmakers and governors who endorsed Peltola to ask whether they would denounce the alleged effort to mislead Alaska voters.
As of publication, not a single one has responded.
Boy, doesn't that say everything?
So who did they reach out to?
Fox News Digital reached out to Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), who had stated that "voter suppression is poisonous, it is toxic to our democracy" in 2022; Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) argued in April 2025 that "those of us who believe that the threat to democracy is urgent" need to "act like it," and Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) said in December 2016 that "protecting American democracy is a calling far higher than party politics."
As Fox noted:
Despite their outspoken defenses of democracy and insistence that protecting it should transcend party politics, none of these lawmakers responded to Fox News Digital's questions about the alleged effort to mislead Alaska voters.
Even Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) was silent.
Among the other Democratic Senators reached by Fox News Digital were Sens. Adam Schiff, Alex Padilla, Maggie Hassan, Chuck Schumer, Catherine Cortez Masto, Angela Alsobrooks, Andy Kim, Brian Schatz, Ed Markey, Elissa Slotkin, John Hickenlooper, Jon Ossoff, Kirsten Gillibrand, Lisa Blunt Rochester, Mark Kelly, Michael Bennet, Ruben Gallego, Sheldon Whitehouse and Tammy Duckworth.
The U.S. House members reached by Fox News Digital included Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Chris Pappas, Brittany Pettersen, Eric Sorensen, Mike Levin, Hillary Scholten, Jared Huffman, Josh Harder, Pramila Jayapal, Sarah McBride, George Whitesides, Jonathan Nez and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez.
Because it was never about "democracy." They don't really care what the voters think.
They care about what will get them power. And right now, flipping Alaska is critical to their end goal of grabbing the Senate. If they say something negative that further hurts Peltola, that could hurt their chances. So they stay silent despite how disgusting the alleged action is, like the cowards they are, as their claims to care about "democracy" crumble in the bright light of day. They could even just say, "If true, it's disgusting, and no one should do that." But they wouldn't even do that. So much for looking out for the interests of the voters.
Meanwhile, Democrats will screech about Republicans daring to be upset about the dirty-trick move and wanting to make sure that the voters have not been misled before the election is certified. That they term "rigging," somehow. How dare those Republicans pounce in response to the bad thing Democrats allegedly did! It doesn't even pass the smell test at this point.
