The Democrats are losing their minds again. When are they not doing that, and do they have any minds left to lose?
But this time, the Democrats' angst on Friday seemed to be over President Donald Trump's interaction with China's President Xi Jinping during his visit.

Now, of course, what the Democrats left out there is: yes, this is normal protocol for a visiting world leader. Both Barack Obama and Joe Biden also "rolled out the red carpet" for Xi. Do they think we have 15-second memories and wouldn't remember that?

Not to mention, the absolute nerve of the Democrats saying that, even as they embrace radical left extremists, socialists, and Communists in their party. They are the ones giving countenance to those extreme positions. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
But typically, because they're Democrats, they were getting the story all wrong when it comes to Trump.
They were missing some of the subtle (and not-so-subtle) messages that Trump was delivering to Xi Jinping.
First, let's start with this moment: the not-so-subtle, pointed message that Trump delivered on Xi's arrival.

"Our power. Can you feel it?" That was the message there.
Then there was perhaps the more subtle but powerful message about freedom during the dinner at the White House.

A military chorus entertained President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping with a medley from “Les Misérables” during Thursday night’s White House state dinner — despite one of the selections being restricted in China for encouraging dissent.
As Trump and the Chinese “president for life” dined with assorted oligarchs, a military band marched into the East Room playing “Do You Hear the People Sing?”, in which discontented Parisians anticipate an attempt to overthrow their repressive government.
China censored online distribution of the tune after pro-democracy activists in Hong Kong adopted it as an anthem during anti-Beijing protests in 2019.
Great selection there.
But underneath the required pleasantries and the discussion of required topics on which they have to negotiate, Trump has been cutting China off at the pass all around the world, as he makes moves to protect America's interests.
Trump moved to stop China's influence in the Panama Canal, to protect that vital passage in our own hemisphere. His actions in Venezuela are similarly interfering with China's plans there and cutting off oil as well. It cuts off oil that goes to Cuba, which was then resold to China for foreign currency.
Then there's the Greenland deal. It established our ability to build whatever military installations we might need. But it was even better than that.
The deal bars China, Russia and other non-NATO countries from establishing military bases or maintaining troops in Greenland. It also restricts adversaries from investing in sensitive sectors that could pose a threat to U.S. national security.
Not only was it an amazing deal that blocked out the ambitions or investments of China (or any other adversary) in that vital region, but it also helped our own efforts to not have to be reliant on China for such things as critical minerals by securing our investment rights there in that regard.
There's the pleasant public face, but then there's the "Donroe Doctrine" to protect American interests. One should not look at the first without seeing the second. They go hand in hand.
Meanwhile, the Democrats left all those problems and dangers hanging out in the wind. They were content to be rolled by China. So they really don't have a leg to stand on to criticize Trump when they failed to take action to protect our interests.
Of course, to protect those interests, you have to care about them, and they seem more interested in preserving their own power.
