Vice-President JD Vance was in his hometown of Middletown, Ohio, to deliver remarks at the Cleveland-Cliffs Middletown Works, a steel mill, on Friday.
During his speech, Vance explained how special it was to visit since his grandfather worked there for 40 years. "Papaw was a welder in this place for 40 years, and today his grandson stands here as the vice president of these United States. It’s an amazing thing," Vance said.
Vance mentioned how his Papaw loved "to build out cars, a cup of lukewarm coffee, never cold, never hot, and, of course, a donut from Central Pastry or Milton's Donuts. You could see the guys nodding in agreement over those choices. "That was his American dream," Vance said.

He mentioned he'd dropped in on Central Pastry, and the ladies commented on how he'd lost weight. He replied that it was because they didn't have a Central Pastry in D.C., so he wasn't getting to eat their donuts.

Vance had a sweet moment in more ways than one when he dropped in on the shop earlier. The shop has been there since 1949.

Not only did he get donuts, but he also had a great invitation for the ladies. He invited them to go to the speech as his guests and to ride in the motorcade with him.
@jd So glad that these wonderful ladies were able to join for the day on Friday!
