Watch DSA Official Squirm As She's Grilled on Policies - Her Answers Are Something Else

Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) made a great point the other day about the strategy the right was using against the far-left/socialist surge: Operation Let Them Speak. The more you let them speak, the more people understand how unhinged their ideas are.

We wrote over the weekend about the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) national co-chair Megan Romer saying they believe in "taxing the hell out of millionaires." But then she was unable to explain what that slogan means in terms of actual policy.

You would think they would have learned not to send their people out to do media interviews. But they keep on doing it, so they keep on exposing themselves

On Sunday, NBC 4 Los Angeles anchor Conan Nolan interviewed Democratic Socialists of America National Political Committee Member Frances Gill.

Nolan pressed her on what their alternative was if you did what they wanted and abolished prisons and police.

"Right, but it says 'defund police' on your website — that's your goal — and also to get rid of prisons and jails, correct?" he pressed. Gill answered affirmatively.

"So if my daughter is assaulted and raped, is there any agency that would seek to find her assailant and bring him to justice?" Nolan queried.

"Of course, yeah, of course," Gill replied.

"What would it be if not police, and where would he be if not a jail?" asked Nolan.

Her response? "I really want to avoid getting caught in these kinds of hypotheticals," she answered.

I bet you do, because you have no real answers. Because then you might have to try to give a sensible answer.

She said she wanted to talk more about the reality of what they were "facing right now." So we're not facing people being raped or other serious crimes the police have to address right now? Of course we are.

Gill spoke about addressing "root causes" such as poorly-lit streets, substance abuse, and mental healthcare. Those things should be addressed, but they don't obviate the need for the police.

What she said about the border was just ridiculous.

She disputed that the borders were open under Joe Biden and disputed that that was why President Donald Trump was elected. She claimed the problem was due to "concentrating wealth in the hands of the few." What the heck? What does any of that slogan have to do with the border? The border problem was a big factor in Trump's win.

"I guess I don't understand why we kind of constantly get pinned on these particular questions when the immediate reality of the situation is that immigration enforcement is absolutely out of control, needs to be addressed immediately and we know that in Los Angeles, like, more than almost any other city in the country," she said.

They "constantly get pinned" because they have no idea what they are talking about.

This was my favorite part of the whole interview when Nolan nailed the DSA on how they can claim to be for the working class, but the working-class counties voted against Abdul El-Sayed in the voting booth in the Michigan Democratic Senate Primary.

She replied:

"I think what we're seeing is people who are highly educated in this country were promised this path of economic success...but really what we're seeing is this huge downward mobility problem...because our society, the scales are so tipped in one direction to benefit the rich and the wealthy."

Gill also explained that she had half a million in student debt.

Let's see. The "highly educated" person didn't answer the question as to why the working class did not vote for her candidate. Instead, she spoke about how she felt the highly educated had been "promised" things but weren't getting them because of the rich. So much for the working class.

That's the real belief system right there. But she and her buddies weren't "promised" anything. You're not promised success for being highly educated. There are no guarantees in life. And if you take out a loan, that's on you — a rich person wasn't forcing you to do it. Then, too, if you get a degree or job like in poetry or gender studies, and can't get a job that will pay your bills, that's also on you, not the government, and not on the rich people. She actually is a physician, so she has a degree that has some value. But if her buddies don't, that's on them.
