Grab the popcorn; the battle between the socialists and the more establishment Democrats just had another spicy moment on Friday.
Rep. Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) took the podium at an NYPD security briefing on the National Dominican Republic Day Parade. You may recall Espaillat lost in the recent primary to socialist Darializa Avila Chevalier, who Mayor Zohran Mamdani supported. Espaillat was the chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and had been in Congress since 2017.
Espaillat acknowledged Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, thanking her warmly.
He then praised various police chiefs as well as the work of the police. “I know firsthand the great work that the police department has done, the men and women of the police department have done throughout the years.”
Guess who he didn't even acknowledge, who was standing to his right?
Rep. Adriano Espaillat didn't even acknowledge Mayor Mamdani's presence just now at a Dominican Day Parade security briefing. He did thank NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch and other police officials on hand, tho.

You got it, Espaillat snubbed Mamdani.
The 34-year-old democratic socialist mayor— who wasn’t yet alive in the 1980s — stood stiffly next to the 71-year-old five-term congressman with a strained smile.
Espaillat added that he was there to “express my full support to the police department,” which Mamdani sharply criticized before taking office.
As the two men crossed paths on stage, they did not make eye contact or acknowledge each other, experts said.
Espaillat also left Mamdani out in his post on X about the event.
“Today, I joined NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch, the National Dominican Day Parade, and community leaders to reaffirm our shared commitment to a safe and successful National Dominican Day Parade weekend,” Espaillat wrote on X. “As we celebrate our heritage, culture, and community, we must also work together to ensure everyone can celebrate safely.
“Thank you to all our partners for helping keep New Yorkers safe as we honor Dominican pride across our city.”
Mamdani, while he mentioned Tisch and the NYPD, similarly didn't note Espaillat in his X post about the event.
Given what we've reported about Mamdani's sensitivity, I'm sure that did not go over well with him. What a face.

Here's How Extreme the Dems Are Now, in New NY Congressional Nominee's Own Words
Mamdani was also allegedly fuming after he got snubbed last week and wasn't asked to deliver remarks for a slain soldier at the funeral. He's also ticked off 9/11 families, some of whom don't want him at the 25th anniversary ceremonies. He was even booed, and some shouted at him to leave at a Staten Island event on Tuesday.
Sounds like Mamdani is getting served, and he certainly has earned all of it. Democrats helped to create this drama and they are now getting eaten by it.
