New: Platner's Reply When Asked If More Might Be Coming Should Worry Dems

You gotta hand it to the Democrats.

When they dug up Graham Platner as their candidate for Senate in Maine, they found one twisted character. Now the Democrats have really stuck themselves on the hook with him, voting for him as their candidate in the primary on Tuesday.

Platner received 72 percent of the vote. So even with everything that has come out, you still had more than 140,000 Democrats who would vote for this character. It may perhaps be a small consolation that almost 20 percent voted for former governor Janet Mills, who wasn't campaigning, and 7 percent for David Costello. So more than 27 percent of Democrats voting rejected him.

How could they fall for this guy and not see his line? Beyond all the vile things and the radical leftist bent, he's just so full of it. "Listen to my redemption story even as I continue to deny all the worst stuff."

Look at the dark-haired lady on the left. As he talks about how he tries to be a better man every day (gag), she looks at him adoringly and falls for the whole package. How many of those women were all in on "Believe all women"?

Redemption involves admission of guilt and actual change. Plus, the U.S. Senate isn't a treatment center. He can work out his issues not on our dime.

As noted, though, now the Democrats are fully on the hook for him. Despite everything, despite not knowing what will be coming out next. And you know there's going to be more stuff, even though he'd previously told the Democrats there wouldn't be, and then more came.

But listen to what he says about that when MS NOW's Mika Brzezinski asked him about it. Democrats should be worried when they listen to his answer.

"You say there's nothing out there that could be concerning. And this may be a little bit rich...," she said, broaching the big question.

“Well, let me make this clear, there’s nothing out there that’s actually concerning," Platner replied. "People will make everything seem very concerning, because that's what people, that's politics," he said.

So he isn't even denying that there will be more stuff that's concerning. But if you think it's concerning, silly you, it's not ACTUALLY concerning. According to him. The utter hubris of this guy. He's basically blowing off the Democrats' understandable concern. And they should be concerned, based on what we've seen. That also doesn't sound like "redemption," that sounds like deflection.

If it's a close race, that 27 percent may loom large, as some Democrats debate what to do, as one report explained.

Several Democratic voters were hesitant to weigh in on the Senate race, saying they felt Platner’s candidacy was all but certain at this point and sharing their opinion on him was likely to be met with backlash. Others who were planning to vote Democratic in November are now toying with backing Collins or sitting out the Senate race entirely — a challenge for the likely nominee and his party.

That's just the Democrats potentially defecting.

What about the independents, whom he may not even have had to begin with? And, then too, he's sparking some folks on the right who may not have been completely happy with all of Sen. Susan Collins' votes, and may otherwise have sat out, to want to come out to vote for her.
