That Ironic Moment Liberal Media Realizes Even Their Base Isn't Believing Them After WHCD Shooting

Most of America was concerned on Saturday when the news of a shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner broke. It was worrying that there was such an attempt yet again against President Donald Trump and Trump administration officials.

But what was also apparent on the X platform was how many people on the left immediately claimed it was staged. They didn't care about all the evidence as it emerged: the multiple videos, that a Secret Service agent was reportedly shot in the vest, and that there was a real person who was taken into custody who wrote things indicating he was influenced by leftist narratives against Trump.

But that's how far off the rails the unreality of the Trump Derangement Syndrome has gotten on the left. They don't ask why or even how Trump would or could be staging something with people who are constantly attacking him like the media there.

They also missed that Trump had some banging trolling jokes that he was going to aim at the media, so the last thing he would want to do was have that interrupted. Instead, they took White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt's heads up of the coming attractions as further solidification of the conspiracy.

Of course, Leavitt is using the term not in the sense of actual shots fired, but shots — jokes — roasting the media.

If you were involved in a "staged" incident, you wouldn't be talking about "shots" beforehand. But that's how off the rails and in an alternate reality these folks on the left are. They don't even think through what they are postulating.

What was rather ironic, however, was how this reaction upset the folks at MS NOW, because they were present at the WHCD and confirmed it was real. But even then, people on the left weren't buying it.

"One thing that I’m disturbed by as we woke up this morning is seeing folks on the internet say that this was a false flag, that we are basically all in cahoots to do, to say that this was staged," MS NOW host Eugene Daniels said on "The Weekend."

He continued, "And I think as someone who, for all of us who was in the room, who had to jump on the ground, who had to text our family and friends and tell them that we were okay, calling our moms like so many people in this country have done for decades, to see people say those kinds of things,, it is frustrating, and it’s disturbing, and it shows that the issues that we have to try and fix in this country,"

Jonathan Capehart claimed there were claims of false flags in the MAGA world, but he was surprised that he was seeing this on the left for this incident.

"I’m hearing that from my social media pages, from people on the left, also thinking that this was staged, that this was a false flag, that this was something being done on purpose. And hearing you speak, Eugene, if it’s coming from the right and it’s coming from the left, these conspiracy theories, it says to me that there feels to be a lack of trust in this country," Capehart said.

"If you can't trust what we're telling you, I don't think that's an issue of journalism, I think that's an issue of American society," Capehart exclaimed. "We were in the room. We're telling you what happened last night was real."

That's what's called getting gored by the bull you let out of the gate.

The leftist media, like MSNBC (now MS NOW), have fed conspiracies like Russia collusion for years. And the hosts are surprised now that the leftist base doesn't even believe them when they are affirming the reality of such an attack. But their network helped feed the Trump Derangement Syndrome all this time. If you check the comments on that MS NOW YouTube, there's a raft saying they believe it was staged.

The problem is that this was the same kind of leftist fog that the alleged shooter seemed to be indulging in. When you have a segment of society that has bought all kinds of fictions against Trump, including Democrats painting him as an existential threat, what might they believe, and then what might they do? How many more might be set off?

Then you have Democratic leaders like House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) rejecting that they need to moderate or change their language. Indeed, he made things worse by stoking the language even more by talking about "far right extremists."
