Whoops: Schumer’s Epstein Files Answer Goes Sideways Fast

We had more information come out over the past week regarding Jeffrey Epstein. The reason was that the House Oversight Committee, controlled by Republicans, obtained 20,000 pages of information from the Epstein estate through a subpoena. That is distinct from the government documents that the Department of Justice is holding. The House may take a vote on those documents this week. Republican Rep. Tim Burchett (TN-2) tried to get a unanimous consent (UC) vote to release them last week, but he reported that it was blocked procedurally by the Democrats. A UC vote has to have both sides agree.

Democrats then cherry-picked a few emails from the Epstein estate release to try to smear President Donald Trump with. But it didn't go particularly well for them. As we reported, the email they put out about Trump spending time with an Epstein victim was in reference to Virginia Giuffre, who repeatedly said that Trump had never behaved inappropriately. Then they tried to spread the claim that Trump spent Thanksgiving 2017 with Epstein based on one of the emails, which was ridiculous because Trump's every movement as president was tracked. He was at Mar-a-Lago with his family, video conferencing with members of the military, and visiting a Coast Guard station. The Democrats' X account was forced to delete the claim they made.

Republicans released the 20,000 pages. But given what the Democrats pulled out of the information to try to hit Trump with, it sounds like once again they have a whole lot of nothing. But that's the history of their ten-year effort to do Trump in.

Humiliated Dems Forced to Delete Latest False Claim About Epstein and Trump

Then people started noticing the Democrats' names in what had been released from the estate. As we reported, there were problematic texts from Epstein to Democratic Delegate Stacey Plaskett, the non-voting member of the House who represents the Virgin Islands, appearing to coach her during a House hearing in February 2019. That was well after Epstein's plea, and his actions were widely reported. Plaskett had received donations from Epstein. The texts also showed that Epstein was helping Democrats against Trump, blowing up any efforts to claim they still had contact. Trump booted him from Mar-a-Lago years ago, but Democrats were still talking with him into 2019.

That might explain why Democrats didn't release things during Joe Biden's presidency.

But then, when a reporter asked Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) about that on Monday, Schumer's answer was hilarious and perhaps one more sign of how he probably should exit, stage left.

"That's the question every American is asking. Well, not every American, but so many Americans are asking. What the hell is he hiding?" Schumer said. "Why doesn't he want them released?"

Great question, Chuck! Why didn't Biden release them? Because we know if there had been anything on Trump, it would have dropped long ago. So what didn't they want to come out? Chuck didn't answer that question.

Now, Trump has also called their bluff, calling on the House to release the files. So we may find out the answer to that question, but that measure would still have to pass the Senate.
