We're now at Day 9 of the Schumer Shutdown.
Democrats are so bereft of justification for their position that House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) couldn't even answer basic questions during an interview on CNBC on Thursday morning. He was embarrassed by host Joe Kernen. Even CNBC got how ridiculous the Democrat position was, and all Jeffries could do was stammer out talking points that made no sense.

But it sounds like Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) didn't want to leave Jeffries as the winner of the worst remarks on tap for the day. According to Punchbowl, Schumer managed to dig the hole even deeper with a comment he made about the shutdown.
Chuck Schumer is admitting the Democrat Shutdown—where they are hurting everyday Americans— is a positive thing.

Every Democrat should be asked if they agree with Schumer.
Vile. Craven. Disgusting. pic.twitter.com/OgPuXYTXYA
They quoted him as saying, "Every day gets better for us."
He thinks it's good for them, so he doesn't care about the American people being hurt by it.
That prompted the Republicans, including Vice President JD Vance and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, to excoriate him, as our sister site Townhall reported.
Better for Schumer. Worse for Americans.

What a vile sentiment from an alleged leader in our country. https://t.co/P9bpss06s1
While federal workers stress over missed paychecks, military families turn to food pantries, and airports around the country face delays — Chuck Schumer and the Democrats are bragging that “every day gets better” for them.
— Karoline Leavitt (@PressSec) October 9, 2025
What a disgusting and revealing statement.

Yesterday, Chuck Schumer—the engineer of the painful shutdown—told Punchbowl the following. Incredible. pic.twitter.com/XZqH6NPEDA
— Speaker Mike Johnson (@SpeakerJohnson) October 9, 2025
House Speaker Johnson (R-LA) also ripped Schumer to shreds on Wednesday, noting Democratic senators have voted five times to keep the government closed. The Democrat members of Congress are getting paid, while they're holding up the payment for others, like our military members.
Meanwhile, as Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) explained, this is all about Schumer trying to look tough to his leftist wing in the vain hope that he can hold onto his seat in the event of a challenge from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

Priceless: Sen. Kennedy Nails Schumer in Classic Style on the Reason for His Shutdown
Not only is Schumer's latest comment clueless, but I don't think he's correct, even from a political perspective, because it's clear Democrats are on the hook for this shutdown.
He can't wiggle out of it. People are not going to look on them kindly.
Rep. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) nailed Schumer and the Democrats on why this was continuing and when it might end - because they had to appear to be tough before another "No Kings" protest on Oct. 18.
Chuck “every day gets better” Schumer is afraid of his own shadow.
— Markwayne Mullin (@SenMullin) October 9, 2025
Activists are pressuring him to hold the Schumer Shutdown until after the “No Kings” Day protests on Oct 18th.
Military families will go without pay— 100% because of Schumer. It’s awful. pic.twitter.com/ya64HpYQRq
That sounds about on par for the Democrats - all they have is empty performance art to hoodwink their own base to make it look like they're doing "something."
Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
