GOP Committee Chair Wrecks Maxwell Frost for Wild Remarks That Go 'Over the Cliff' on OBBB

The "One Big Beautiful Bill" was making its final transit through the House on Wednesday, having to meet a couple of procedural steps before a final vote.

It finally passed the Senate on Tuesday, with Vice President JD Vance casting the tie-breaking vote. How juvenile are Democrats? Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer struck the language in the bill calling it "One Big Beautiful Bill." But that didn't stop it from passing. However, because there were changes, it has to go back and be passed by the House.

On Wednesday, Members of the House were holding a House Rules Committee meeting on the bill. Two Democrats tried to claim Democrats cared about the "right to life" while attacking Republicans. Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL) was a witness before the Committee, and Rep. Teresa Leger-Fernández (D-NM) is a member of the Committee.

REP. TERESA LEGER FERNÁNDEZ (D-NM): I think that the theme that we are seeing is, you said it, a right to life versus their desire for profit. You just described that, and in this bill that’s what we see over and over again: the right to life, because you need the health insurance, versus the right for profit.

REP. MAXWELL FROST (D-FL): You see, they say they’re pro-life because they want the baby to be born, go to school, and get shot in the school. Die in the schools, die on the streets–

That is what they say, Frost claimed (despite, of course, no Republican saying that).

GOP Committee Chair Virginia Foxx (R-NC) wasn't standing for any of that nonsense: "I wasn't going to say anything, but you've gone over the cliff!"

Foxx then ripped him into next week.

You are not going to come into this room and impugn our integrity! You will not!

We are pro-life people, from conception to natural death, most of us are. And don’t you come in here and say, we want to preserve life so people can get shot!

Well said. Can we talk about Democrats being soft on crime, pushing prosecutors who don't properly prosecute and hold people accountable? Not to mention the Democrats' history of promoting defunding the police?

Beyond that, Frost's argument is just a ridiculously illogical comment.

He's saying that Republicans are pro-life so a child can be shot, which is not at all logical. One does not follow the other. So any problem the child may later have in life is because those mean, evil Republicans believed in their right to live?

Meanwhile, Democrats are pro-abortion. So they're pro-death so the child is killed before he even can be born or go to school? How does what he's saying even make any sense?

That's why I think what Foxx said is right. Initially, they spoke about striking his words, as they usually might do when someone says something "over the cliff." But this should stand as a testament to what ridiculous arguments Democrats will make to try to get their way. This is why they are so often failing and flailing - because their positions make no sense.
