We wrote about how Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) played schoolyard games Saturday by forcing the Senate clerk to read the over 900-page-plus “One Big Beautiful Bill” out loud for 16 straight hours in a bid to delay the proceedings. Well it didn’t work, Chuck, because the measure passed the Senate Tuesday by a tie 50-50 vote broken by Vice President JD Vance.
It now goes back to the House, where unless things go seriously off the rails, a final bill will pass and head to President Trump’s desk.
Schumer didn’t go out without some last-minute antics, however—he forced a name change at the last minute.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., forced a name change for President Donald Trump's "big, beautiful bill" moments before the legislative package passed the upper chamber of Congress.
While Sen. Pete Ricketts, R-Neb., was chairing the Senate, Schumer raised a point of order against lines three to five on the first page of the legislative proposal that said, "SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ‘'One Big Beautiful Bill Act.'"
Schumer argued the title of the bill violated Section 313 B1A of the Congressional Budget Act of 1974, or what's commonly referred to as the "Byrd Rule."
Ricketts said the point of order was sustained, meaning that text will be stricken from the bill.
SCHUMER just raised a point of order against the title of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

So, officially, it is no longer called the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
This is Democrat leadership, folks:
Chuck Schumer wasted 16 hours having the BBB read out loud while he wasn’t even around.

This is the kind of waste in US Government that needs removing in massive amounts.pic.twitter.com/uo8n1V3RkG

But Schumer wasn’t done; far from it. He launched into one of the more histrionic tirades you’ll ever hear, basically implying that the end of the universe is nigh if this bill becomes law. Is it any wonder that no one takes Democrats seriously anymore?
Schumer:
This is not a ‘big, beautiful bill’ at all. That's why I moved down the floor to strike the title. It is now called ‘the act.’ That's what it's called. But it is really the ‘big ugly betrayal,’ and the American people know it," Schumer told reporters. "This vote will haunt our Republican colleagues for years to come. Because of this bill, tens of millions will lose health insurance. Millions of jobs will disappear. People will get sick and die, kids will go hungry and the debt will explode to levels we have never seen.
I can almost visualize him on top of a desert hillock wearing a robe and screeching, “The end is near! The end is near!”
During his participation in the debate on Trump's spending bill, Chuck Schumer said, "You can't buy a dozen eggs for $5.00."

According to FinanceBuzz, the average cost of a dozen eggs is $3.01.
If he lies about this, what else is he willing to lie about? pic.twitter.com/QiYuaGrHYn
The Big Beautiful Bill, or “The Act,” as Schumer has renamed it, is far from perfect. However, the Biden “Inflation Reduction Act” behemoth measure that passed under Schumer’s watch was so bloated with pork, boondoggle green energy giveaways and budget-busting social justice initiatives that it’s hard to take Chuck seriously when he calls foul over a bill that will prevent our taxes from skyrocketing.
I think now is a good time for Mr. Schumer to retire and chase his true passion: over-the-top theater.
