We all got to know 13-year-old DJ Daniel at President Donald Trump's address to Congress, in March.
He's battled cancer since 2018 and faced many surgeries. He's gone through a lot. He always wanted to be a police officer and has become an honorary member of many departments. The President, in a sweet moment during his address, made him an honorary Secret Service agent.
There were many great moments tonight, but this was one of my favorites. Secret Service Director Sean Curran gives DJ Daniel, who has been battling cancer for most of his life, a hug after the surprised look on his face when the President made him a Secret Service agent. pic.twitter.com/qHmv8S1GFr

Most of the Democrats wouldn't stand and clap for DJ during that beautiful moment, only one Democrat stood.
He was even able to give Trump a hug in the White House.

Unfortunately, his father is now providing a bad update on DJ's condition.
DJ, who was given five months to live after being diagnosed with incurable brain and spine cancer in 2018, has “three new tumors,” his father, Theodis Daniel, told Fox 7 Austin last week.
“It’s rough, there isn’t a class that can teach you how to deal with it. You’re hearing that your child has a nasty disease,” the heartbroken dad said.
“We’re just going around showing people, hey, you do care for one another. Let’s give compassion and let’s try to join and help each other get through things,” he added.
The White House said they were "lifting up Agent Daniel in prayer."

DJ is one of the strongest, bravest young men—and has now been sworn into 1,351 law enforcement agencies across the country.

They also recognized his goal, saying he'd been "sworn into 1,351 law enforcement agencies across the country" and calling Agent Daniel "a true legend."
Many others also sent prayers to DJ including Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who said the young Texas boy exemplified "true Texas grit," with a "proven ability to weather any storm."

DJ exemplifies true Texas grit. His proven ability to weather any storm will no doubt carry him through this one, too.

"Texas is with you every step of the way, DJ," Abbott said.
Prayers out to you and your family, DJ, and thank you for showing us a shining example of how to seize life, living boldly and bravely.
