Trump's Humorous Comments on Upcoming Meeting With Bill Maher (and Who Else Will Be There)

As we reported, President Donald Trump will be meeting with Bill Maher through the auspices of Kid Rock.

That was significant because despite sometimes "getting it" on some issues, Maher has let his Trump Derangement Syndrome stand in his way, being a critic of Trump for many years. But Maher said the idea was maybe, in some way, the meeting could be a path toward healing the divide in the country if they just reached out to show how it was done. And, of course, President Trump has shown he will talk with and reach out to anyone — even Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

Can I Get A Ticket? Bill Maher to Meet With Donald Trump, Kid Rock at White House Soon

Now, the President has confirmed it himself, in his typically humorous way.

Trump said:

I got a call from a very good guy, and friend of mine, Kid Rock, asking me whether or not it would be possible for me to meet, in the White House, with Bill Maher, a man who has been unjustifiably critical of anything, or anyone, TRUMP. I really didn’t like the idea much, and don’t like it much now, but thought it would be interesting.

Then came the part I thought was funny.

The problem is, no matter how much he likes your Favorite President, ME, he will publicly proclaim what a terrible guy I am, etc., very much like the Democrats at my recent Address to the Joint Session of Congress, where I stated, correctly, that no matter what I said or did, they wouldn’t stand, they wouldn’t applaud, they wouldn’t smile or laugh and, certainly, they wouldn’t be in any way “nice.” Who knows, though, maybe I’ll be proven wrong? In any event, I’m doing a favor for a friend. I look forward to meeting with Bill Maher, Kid Rock and, I believe, even the Legendary Dana White will be present. It might be fun or, it might not, but you will be the first to know!

That sounds a little like he's gaming it beforehand, knowing they likely would get on but knowing Maher may have a problem actually admitting that publicly. Not holding out a lot of hope, so then, if it happens that they get on well, it's all gravy. Trump is covering all his bets.

Either way, just getting to this point is Maher already recognizing the power of Trump, which Maher hasn't been able to do in the past — that he has to meet the immovable object. And the fact that Trump can do that after all that Maher has said about him shows that he is trying to act like a "unifier" here, even to someone who has been very hostile. It would be quite something if he's able to open Maher's eyes a little bit more.

Then, too, having those other guys there as helpful, fun intercessors should make it a rollicking good time. I don't know if they're going to be recording it in any way, but you know it's going to be interesting.
