Another European Official Embarrasses Himself With 'Warning' to Trump About Ukraine Peace Deal

We've seen a variety of European officials stepping on rakes over the last few days when it comes to not being able to handle hard truths from the Trump administration.

We saw JD Vance doubling down on Monday over the question of standing up for free speech and having to school leftist Mehdi Hasan on the concept.

It's funny, the Europeans want us all in to protect them with NATO and/or to pony up money but they also think that they can dictate to us at the same time how to do things or what our positions should be.

Polish foreign minister Radoslaw Sikorski made remarks at the Munich Security Conference that had people talking. He warned that President Donald Trump that coming to a deal between Russia and Ukraine had to be "fair" (in his assessment) or that might affect the U.S.' standing on other issues because he said Joe Biden "planted the flag of the U.S." in Ukraine. He also warned it could have another consequence for Trump.

Oh, you mean like when Barack Obama did virtually nothing after Russia invaded Crimea?

Joe Biden was content to get us involved in a never-ending war for which we kept paying without any limits or end in sight. Trump is not, nor is most of the country and he's also not weak like Biden/Obama. So I don't anticipate a weak deal coming out of the talks with Russia.

But Sikorski's final point was a threat to deny Trump the Nobel Peace Prize if they didn't like what he achieved with a peace deal. It was one of those "joking" (but we mean it) kinds of things.

"I would tell him that we Europeans control the Nobel Peace Prize," Sikorski said. "If you want to earn it, the peace has to be fair."

Nice way to confirm what we already knew: just how political the award is. I think we already knew it from when Barack Obama got the prize -- for doing nothing. That one act made it officially worth nothing.

I think Trump has long since made peace with that fact after they didn't give it to him for the Abraham Accords -- when he should have gotten it in his first term. So, it's not exactly a big threat to hold over his head. I don't think they'd give it to him even if it were the best deal ever for Ukraine. Indeed, I expect him to laugh at that threat, call them silly -- then do exactly what he thinks is best for the people. He wants to stop the killing.

So if the Europeans think this is any kind of hold on him, they are seriously mistaken.
