Letitia James Steps on Multiple Rakes in Wild Rant Against Trump, Musk Over DOGE

New York Attorney General Letitia James appeared outside of federal court in New York City on Friday to talk about a lawsuit that she and others Democrat attorneys general had filed against the Trump administration in regard to the actions of DOGE and access to information.

James is trying to stand in the way of DOGE's effort to root out fraud, waste, and abuse. During her remarks, she spewed a bunch of things that weren't true. She claimed Elon Musk was a "private individual" who "no one elected," and "no one has allowed to have access" to this information. She said he was "not subject to any vetting," and was "untethered to any accountability at all."

James wrongly claimed that they froze Social Security and veterans payments. She claimed it was unconstitutional and "ultra vias (sic)." I think she meant "ultra vires" -- the legal concept that it's beyond their powers. But she appeared to even mispronounce that. She claimed Musk, Treasury officials, and Trump "is (sic) not above the law."

She completely ignored that Musk was named the head of the Department of Government of Efficiency (DOGE) as part of the Executive Office of the President by the duly elected president, Donald Trump. She ignored that Musk is a "special government employee," not a private citizen. She also falsely claimed he has not been vetted, when indeed, he has top security clearance. He likely has more vetting than the regular employees who view the information (who are also "unelected").

James claimed it was a "violation of separation of powers," and that they needed consent from Congress -- as though the president doesn't have a right to review his own executive branch. That's what it really gets down to here -- they're trying to impair the president from doing his job and having his advisors do theirs.

"It is up to us to prevent him [Elon Musk] from having access to that private information," James said. They intend to interfere in the powers of the executive branch.

It isn't Musk or Trump who don't seem to understand the law. Maybe she should check with the American people who support Trump and Musk? But James doesn't seem to care about that.

Maybe James wants to check into why the DOJ has filed suit against her and NY Governor Kathy Hochul in regard to illegal immigration while we're talking about the "rule of law?" She wants to talk about the rule of law--with the mess that they have in New York when it comes to illegal aliens?

No, she'd rather do a theatrical performance attacking Trump and Musk. She doesn't understand, or maybe she doesn't care, that she's on the wrong side in every way. If she thinks this is raising her national profile in a good way for future office, she's sadly mistaken.
