It's such a great thing that we finally have the government being credibly audited, with the DOGE folks reviewing each of the various agencies in the government. It's astounding the fraud, waste, and abuse that they've found so far, including money allegedly going to terrorists. Democrats have been flipping out because it's stopping their gravy train that went out around the world for leftist causes.
But I think even liberal media might have been surprised when DOGE team members were allegedly reported on Thursday. Perhaps they thought they wouldn't dare go there. You can hear a reporter ask President Donald Trump during his press conference in the Oval Office. I wrote about how he schooled CNN's Kaitlan Collins.

But Trump was also asked about the DOGE team being seen at the IRS. The reporter asked a tantalizing question, "Do you expect to close the IRS?"
President Trump confirms the rumors that DOGE will be auditing the IRS for corruption and waste.

"The IRS will be looked at like everybody else. Just about everybody will be looked at. They're doing a helluva job... I call it the force of super geniuses."

"The IRS will be looked at like everybody else," Trump explained. "Just about everybody is going to be looked at."
He then praised the DOGE team, "They're doing a helluva job, it's an amazing job they're doing...I call it the force of super-geniuses." He spoke about when the DOGE folks put some of the employees on the spot, "They can't talk." I bet when the folks in some of the places have to justify wild expenditures, they might just want to clam up.
You can hear some cross-talk from somebody who some alleged to be Commerce nominee Howard Lutnick saying, "Someday" in response to the question about eliminating the IRS and maybe replacing it with the "ERS" -- the External Revenue Service, where income comes from tariffs and fees abroad versus income tax here. Trump has teased this idea in the past, which would likely make everyone very happy.
But how ironic is it that the IRS is now being audited when they have audited so many? Odds that the DOGE team discovers some interesting things? I'd bet on it.
Most loved it.

Abolish the IRS! https://t.co/CFbfRKdNZW

Naturally, you had what is becoming the norm for the Democrats when it comes to DOGE -- the fear-mongering lie -- courtesy of Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR).
NEW: My office is hearing that DOGE is now at the IRS. That means Musk's henchmen are in a position to dig through a trove of data about every taxpayer in America. And if your refund is delayed, they could very well be the reason.

How desperate are they with this kind of nonsense? Do they get how silly they look when they even defend the most unpopular agency in the government with such ridiculousness?
