With sinking ratings, CNN has been trying to cut back and reorganize. One of the things they did is in addition to giving anchor Kaitlan Collins her own show, "The Source," she also has to cover the White House as a correspondent again. I wonder what she has to be thinking about that move.
Now that President Donald Trump is in office, the network no longer have someone in the White House hiding from reporters. Indeed, you might just have the most transparent president ever. The media seems to have discovered again that they can ask questions, and they might get answers. And sometimes, they may get answers that put them in their place, as Kaitlan Collins did when raising questions with Trump on Thursday.
Trump was just signing an executive order on tariffs--an event which he had the press in to witness, as we reported earlier.

But he was still showing the EO around when Collins tried to ask a question. It did not go well:

KAITLAN COLLINS: Mr. President, you won the White House, in part because of high inflation. If your tariffs make prices go up...
TRUMP: Excuse me, we haven't asked you to speak yet, please.pic.twitter.com/mYWgQQihCs
"Mr. President, you won the White House in part because of high inflation. if your tariffs make prices go up..." Suddenly, Trump just dropped her, scolding her for talking out of turn, "Excuse me, we haven't asked you to speak yet, please."
Now, how good is that -- yes, there's finally someone in charge who is going to bring order, even for something as simple as this. Leaders don't need their staff to cover up for them or hide them, they control the moment.
Then, unlike the Biden team, which would have had a chaotic moment and shoved all the press out of the room to hide Biden after the event photos were taken, Trump did answer questions on tariffs, including some asked by Collins.
When she asked him about Biden's relationship with Putin, Trump didn't hold back, schooling her on the things that Biden did wrong (which likely led to the invasion of Ukraine).
POTUS gives @kaitlancollins a lesson on the Ukraine war: I think Biden is incompetent, and I think when he said they can join NATO, that was a very stupid thing to say... The other thing that got it started was how badly Milley and these stupid people did with Afghanistan. pic.twitter.com/x4lHLgygKf

"I think Biden is incompetent, and I think when he said that they can join NATO, that was a very stupid thing to say," Trump said.
"I thought when he said, 'It depends if it's a minor incursion'' -- in other words, it's okay if Russia does a minor incursion -- I thought that was a very foolish thing to say. The other thing that got it started was how badly Milley and these stupid people, bad generals, how badly did with Afghanistan."
He said while he made a plan during his first term to pull out from Afghanistan, he was going to do it with "dignity and strength" and take out weapons with us -- a reference to American military weapons being left behind when the Taliban took over.
Trump is exactly right about Vladimir Putin listening to Joe Biden talk about not being bothered by a "minor incursion," and what a mess Biden made of Afghanistan. Biden also kept insisting he was right and successful--over and over again--to the media, making it clear he had no idea what he was doing. Trump said he thought Putin looked at that, and decided he could go in.

Trump said Biden should have tried to bring peace in the Russia-Ukraine war years ago. That's when the president really dropped CNN and their failure to hold Biden accountable, after Collins tried another question.
President Trump to @kaitlancollins: "This should've been done by Biden years ago... I know he's a friend of yours. He's a friend of CNN — that's why nobody watches CNN anymore because they have no credibility." 🔥 pic.twitter.com/RMpGIOCj1y

"I know he's a friend of yours," Trump snarked. "He's a friend of CNN — that's why nobody watches CNN anymore because they have no credibility. Okay, who else?"
Ouch, talk about leaving a mark. Trump is indeed the master, and it's going to be a great four years -- although maybe not for CNN.
