Joe Biden and his team have a gift for getting things wrong and then making things even worse, by trying to cover things up or blame other people. We see that with the border, and how he's pretending now like he's always taken the border seriously and it's only because of those mean, evil Republicans not passing a recent bill. Never mind that he's done nothing to secure the border for three years. Not only has he not secured it, but he deliberately broke it by issuing all kinds of executive orders to undo all the good things that former President Donald Trump did.
But during his State of the Union address when he was pushed by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) to go off script and mention Laken Riley, he couldn't even get her name right. But he said something that was misreported by media. Now, the White House has clarified and stepped in things even more.

Listen closely to what he actually said here. It was initially reported as, "But how many of thousands of people been killed by illegals?"

But the White House is now clarifying that he said "legals," as In "how many thousands of people are being killed by legals?"

In other words, he wasn't acknowledging the many, many people who have been killed by illegal aliens, he was trying to downplay Laken Riley's death by suggesting the problem of illegal aliens was nothing compared to that of people being killed by legal citizens. That's even more evil than we initially thought; it was already disgraceful enough. But imagine saying that in the same breath as her name.
Biden let the alleged killer into the country. It was a completely preventable death. Unfortunately, we can't keep out murderous citizens. But we can keep out illegal alien criminals, assuming we pay attention to the law and don't let them into the country as Joe Biden does.
They also had to know that this "correction" wasn't going to go over well. So why did the Biden team do it?
Again, it's a cave to the left and comments like those of Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), that he shouldn't have called Riley's accused killer an "illegal." So he's trying to clean it up, to not to anger the left more. Hang whether it's offensive to an American young woman's parents or anybody else, he's trying to hold onto his leftist base.
