Philadelphia police are investigating an 18-inch pipe bomb that was found behind a Catholic church in Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon.

The bomb was found near train tracks behind St. Dominic Catholic Church on Frankford Ave, in the Holmesburg area.

The streets were shut down while the bomb squad responded to the scene and removed the bomb. No one was injured.

It’s not clear why the bomb was put there and there have been no further details released about the incident yet.

It also follows efforts by some on the left to target churches and crisis pregnancy centers in the wake of the overturning of Roe.

This follows a day after the Auxiliary Bishop of Los Angeles David O’Connell was shot to death in his home. There are no suspects in the case yet. He was known for his pro-life advocacy. The Archbishop recognized O’Connell.

“Our beloved Auxiliary Bishop David O’Connell has passed away unexpectedly,” he said. “It’s a shock and I have no words to express my sadness. As a priest and later a bishop here in Los Angeles for forty-five years, Bishop Dave was a man of deep prayer who had a great love for Our Blessed Mother. He was a peacemaker with a heart for the poor and the immigrant, and he had a passion for building a community where the sanctity and dignity of every human life was honored and protected.”

“He was also a good friend, and I will miss him greatly. I know we all will,” Gomez continued. “Please join me in praying for Bishop Dave and for his family in Ireland. May Our Lady of Guadalupe wrap him in the mantle of her love, and may the angels lead him into paradise, and may he rest in peace.”

Jose Alvarez who knew him described him as a “powerful man.”  “You could see it in his personality — it’s not just because you see him kneeling down praying — you know that he’s a powerful man because you can see it in his life,” Alvarez said.

The police are calling it a murder, but have not announced a suspect or any more details about the crime.

It’s not clear what’s behind the killing of the Bishop.

But one has to ask what’s been going on with the investigation into any of the attacks that have been directed at churches and the crisis pregnancy centers and if someone is taking their anti-life actions to another level with the bomb. Unfortunately, because it’s near a railroad track, one also has to wonder if maybe the tracks were being targeted. While the FBI seems all in on targeting pro-life people and we’ve recounted some of those ridiculous efforts, and they even appeared to be targeting traditionalist Catholics, they are woefully missing when it comes to targeting real terroristic acts aimed at people and organizations because of the decision on Roe.
