President Donald Trump invited Daria Ortiz to the White House to an event of the National Border Council.

He wanted Ortiz to share the story of what happened to her grandmother.

Ortiz’s grandmother, Maria Fuentes was a 92 year old legal immigrant from the Dominican Republic, who Trump explained had been allegedly raped and murdered by an illegal alien, Reeaz Khan.

Ortiz told the crowd about her grandmother who she said was a “shining example of when people come legally to this country, work hard, and do the right thing and are law-abiding citizens.”

The tragedy, Ortiz said was that this could have been avoided, had there been no sanctuary city law in New York City that protected Khan and allowed him to be out to allegedly kill her grandmother. “The tragedy is my grandmother is not ever going to be here again.”

From Fox News:

ICE revealed it had filed a detainer for Khan in November 2019, when he had been arrested on assault and weapons charges. But crucially, that detainer was ignored and Khan was released onto the streets.

Ortiz pinned the blame of Khan’s release on the city’s sanctuary policies and called for “preventative measures” to be put in place to ensure nothing similar could happen again.

“The man that is responsible for this should have never had the opportunity to do this, had his multiple offenses not been ignored,” she said. “The system not only failed our family but it failed our city.”

“It was a deadly choice to release a man on an active ICE detainer back onto the streets after his first arrest included assault and weapon charges, and he now faces new charges, including murder,” ICE officer Thomas Decker said to the New York Post.

Trump has been working to get rid of sanctuary cities and trying to stop the madness. He had mentioned the Fuentes case during his State of the Union address as well as the death of Rocky Jones, another case similar case.

“Not one more American life should be stolen by sanctuary cities,” Trump declared.
