DEI Alive and Well in DeKalb County, GA? Cops Ordered Into Mandatory 'LGBTQIA+ Sensitivity' Class

The DeKalb County (Georgia) Police Department is again back at it — this time by forcing all officers to attend a new mandatory "sensitivity training class" on... wait for it... “LGBTQIA+ awareness.”

Almost as ridiculous, taxpayers will reportedly foot the bill for tens of thousands of dollars in lost work hours as officers sit through indoctrination sessions in which they will be "taught" that biological sex isn't fixed or assigned at birth, but rather that it "exists on a spectrum."

So yeah, despite the demonstrable success of President Donald Trump and his administration in purging the insidiousness of “Woke” and DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) ideology from many of America’s institutions — from the U.S. Armed Forces to large corporations to the no-longer-hallowed halls academia, and college campuses — it's safe to say that the roots and associated metastasis is alive and well.

These are not harmless diversity programs, mind you; they are part of the ideological cancer that was specifically created and employed to destroy the very fabric of the America in which we grew up.

In other words, the Left seeks to stomp out the notion of American Exceptionalism, which has continued to build America and allow it to thrive for more than 250 years.

The DeKalb County Police Department’s new “LGBTQIA+ Sensitivity Training” program, obtained by The Center Square through a Georgia Open Records request, "trains" officers on all of the above — and then some.

Here's more:

They'll hear that sex is actually on a spectrum – a controversial concept espoused by left-wing gender activists.

And "gender pronouns matter," says a PowerPoint being shown to officers. Some people should be referred to as "they/them." Refusing to use that language is like saying, "I would rather hurt you repeatedly than change the way I speak about you."

Officers will also be directed that if they encounter a transgender person, it’s a major no-no to ask their real name. They’ll be told male crime suspects should be given the option to have "female" checked when entering their information on an official police report.

Stop the tape.

Look, it's a fair argument that we've beaten the whole DEI thing to a pulp. That said, until the insidious cancer is eradicated to the point that it's no longer embedded in any of our institutions, we must continue to do so.

Evolutionary biologist Colin Wright, one of the nation’s foremost critics of extreme gender ideology, reviewed the course for The Center Square, which he called “shocking," adding:

I don’t think we should be indoctrinating our officers to really highly-politicized world views, especially if the individual officers don’t themselves ascribe to this view. It’s a form of speech policing – compelled speech on behalf of the government or the specific police department.

With due respect to Mr. Wright, it's worse than that.

While, yes, it's about policing speech on behalf of an out-of-control left-wing government, or even a police department, on a much larger scale, it's about far more.

DEI is a threat because it seeks to kick equal treatment to the curb by switching the focus from individuals (and individual merit) to various group identities — which, ironically, is straight-up discrimination. This form of discrimination — along with others — is beyond fine on the Left, and yet another example of the truism, "the hypocrisy of the Left knows no bounds."

The department’s chief of staff told The Center Square by email that the course will be conducted about eight times a month until every sworn officer has been trained (properly reeducated), a process that could drag on until December. With just under 600 officers on the payroll at the end of 2025, that means taxpayers get to spend roughly $25,000 to $30,000 so the entire force can sit in a classroom and be lectured on the wonders — and sensitivities, of course — of DEI — instead of enforcing the law and protecting the citizenry.

Final Thoughts

I believe it's appropriate to draw a parallel between the similarities of the cancer of DEI and that of radical Islam.

That said, (my liberal friends (assuming any of you are reading this article), I'm not equating the horrors of radical Islam with the soul-crushing impact on everyday Americans by the discriminatory cancer of DEI, but I am suggesting the following:

Decapitating the Islamic regime in Tehran on Day One of "Epic Fury" — it's Day Six as I write — neither stomped out radical Islam in Iran, nor was it expected to. That final result, if it comes, will take weeks if not months.

Likewise, while President Trump and members of his administration continue to finally rid America of the sickness of DEI, their efforts alone aren't going to cure the sickness. If DEI is to be totally defeated, it will take "all of us." You know — the opposite of Hillary's cartoonish "It Takes a Village" book.
