I chose the feature image for this one because it "nicely" captures some of the scurrilous lies spewed at or about President Donald Trump by the emotionally and/or mentally unstable Trump Derangement crowd.
And I chose to write about this story because it perfectly encapsulates how far some of the aforementioned clowns are willing to go to — either intentionally or, as the headline reads, when "some people just snap."
Our story begins with a North Carolina man telling law enforcement officers he was shot at by an angry motorist who tore down a Trump banner in his mother’s front yard.
Not to digress, but when I was a wee lad, my Republican dad was proud of the political signs he put in our yard during various election campaigns — including Richard Nixon's 1968 and 1972 presidential campaigns.
My oh my, how times have changed.
Mark Thomas, who owns a river rafting business in North Carolina’s Nantahala Gorge, told authorities he was chilling at home in early September, when the shooting began.
Thomas told Fox News Digital that after seeing a man wearing an "Antifa-style mask" step out of a Jeep Cherokee to check out a Trump banner tied to a bus near his 87-year-old mother’s house, he checked his security cameras as the aggressive encounter unfolded.
The man, later identified as Benjamin Michael Campbell from Georgia, tore down the banner and fired multiple shots toward Thomas after Thomas fired warning shots from his porch.
"Being a Second Amendment believer, I reached over, grabbed my rifle and took off out there to the porch," Thomas recounted.
Here's more, via Fox Digital:
Thomas said he fired two warning shots into the air before Campbell allegedly got back into his vehicle and opened fire through the sunroof. Campbell then fled — only to return moments later and fire several more shots, striking a refrigerator inside the home, Thomas said.
Campbell, an Atlanta-based accountant, fled before police arrived. He was arrested Sept. 30 and extradited to North Carolina, where he faces charges including felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury, discharging a firearm within an enclosure to incite fear and willful and wanton injury to personal property.
Thomas told Fox he was shocked to learn the suspect was a professional in his late 30s.
Some of these people, they just see a Trump sign, and they just snap. The whole time I’m thinking, ‘This is some 20-year-old kid, and he’s going to figure it out eventually.'
That was really my hesitation. You know, son, you’re going to live another day.’ And I came to find out this guy is 38 years old and an accountant out here in a full Antifa outfit.
The only thing that saved his life was the fact that he couldn’t shoot that well. You would’ve had to hit me pretty good to get me to not do what I was ready to do.
Mr. Campbell was indeed a lucky man that night — courtesy of the considerations of Mr. Thomas.

The Bottom Line
As I neared the end of this article, I was reminded of the old adage, "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes." Next time — why do I assume there will be a next time? — Campbell (or any other TDS-riddled leftist) decides to play another stupid game, he might not be so fortunate.
