As some protesters begin to call for completely defunding police departments across the country, a popular actor and rapper has a message: we want better police, not zero police.

O’Shea Jackson, better known as Ice Cube, is no stranger to the stress and frustration of police brutality. As a member of the groundbreaking rap group N.W.A., Cube and his fellow artists often covered the issue in provocative hits that rattled the charts and helped change the face of the rap industry forever. After striking out on his own as a solo artist, Cube has settled into a very successful career as an actor, starring in such hits as Are We There Yet? and 21 Jump Street. (If you’ve never seen that movie, go watch it. He’s fantastic in it and it is a clever and endearing film).

On Friday, the entertainer took to Twitter to address the latest controversy around the left-wing media’s obsessive coverage of those screaming to defund police departments and eradicate traditional law enforcement altogether. If you think those calls and the ensuing media drool-fest over such statements is absurd, you’re in good company.

So does Mr. Jackson.

The rapper and actor also had an interesting take on the Drew Brees situation.

Ice Cube’s timeline is up and down and all over the place politically and culturally speaking, but it’s a fascinating follow if you’re in the mood for honest celebrity commentary that isn’t virtue signaling. He makes some assumptions that I definitely disagree with but, agree or disagree, if you’re looking for some perspective you’re not finding with your typical social media follows, you might give this account a second look.
