As Hurricane Harvey refugees stream into shelters across Houston and it’s surrounding areas, emergency services are being stretched thin. The images from the flood-ravaged city are heart-wrenching. Understandably spirits must be low but there have also been wonderful stories of neighbors helping neighbors and strangers offering help and encouragement.
One Houston-area resident decided to use her gifts to bless Harvey evacuees at a local shelter. Victoria White and several other kind spirits headed down to the Lone Star Expo Center just north of Houston to see how they could help.
There, White and her fellow singers treated weary evacuees to a incredible gospel performance.
Volunteer Joni Villemez-Comeaux captured the beautiful gesture on camera and posted to her Facebook page.
The video (seen below) has so far garnered over 7 million views on Facebook. White and friends deliver a goose-bump inducing performance of hope, faith and encouragement. It’s hard to imagine there was a dry eye in the place.
Villemez-Comeaux also used her Facebook page to encourage Texans to stay strong and summon their famous Lone Star State courage to help each other through one of the worst natural disasters in Texas history.
During such trying times there is no underestimating the power of a simple song of praise to lift the spirits of the weary and remind us all that we do have help and comfort by our side every day.
God bless America and God bless Texas.
