White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt had a few suggestions for CNN and any reporters who see no trouble with the chaos and violence in the streets in Portland, and it was: go there and do your job.
During a White House Press Briefing on Monday at the White House, Leavitt took on a slew of questions about the Schumer Shutdown before CNN White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins suggested that what President Donald Trump is saying is happening on the ground in the Oregon city and why the National Guard should be sent in doesn't match up with what a Democrat police chief told her over the phone last week.
Keep in mind, Collins' comment comes after we have seen all the anti-ICE violent riots in the city, with reporters being injured, as RedState has been documenting.

"I would encourage you as a reporter to go on the ground and to take a look at it for yourself," Leavitt said. "Because there have been many members of the press, not the press in this room, but independent journalists. Some of whom will be invited to the White House very soon to share their stories."
"Because they have been in the middle of these riots," she added. "And they have witnessed the anarchy taking place night after night. It's on video. You should play it on your show. You have a great opportunity on primetime CNN to show your audience."
Collins made an inaudible response to Leavitt, and she hit back and said, "Yeah, but you're probably talking to partisan Democrat officials who are opposed to everything this president does."
"You should also ask the people who live in Portland," the White House Press Secretary replied. "We've actually heard from many members of the community who have said that this is complete civil disobedience. It's a mess. It's been loud. It's been troubling for neighbors in the community who are just trying to live peacefully. And these people are not there to peacefully protest. They are there to cause mayhem and havoc. "
During the same press briefing, Leavitt said that there’s “been a complete smear campaign from Democrats and the media quite frankly” with reports that President Trump reportedly “wants to take over American cities with the military.”
“The president wants to help these local leaders who have been completely ineffective in securing their own cities,” Leavitt said, pointing to the formality they had for success in Washington, D.C., in cutting crime.

ALSO: (UPDATED) More Than One Way to Crack an Egg: Trump Deploys California National Guard...to Oregon
As my RedState colleague Sister Toldjah reported, there's a reason President Trump wants to send in the National Guard to get things under control in Portland, and it's because citizens in the city have blown up the Democrat narrative that things are just fine.
Toldjah reported:
"One fed-up Portland resident who says they've been subjected to nightly noise disturbances from the agitators is speaking out, thanking Trump for acting when city and state "leaders" refused to.
The resident said:
The Portland resident who went viral after confronting Antifa outside the ICE facility in Portland has issued a statement to @TPostMillennial on President Trump sending in troops:
"For over 100 days, my community has faced relentless harassment, robbery, assault, and racial violence at the hands of these protesters. Day and night, the danger has continued while Portland police and city leaders refused to act, refused to protect us, and refused to address our legitimate concerns. The people of South Portland have been abandoned.
Therefore, I want to thank President Trump for responding to our plight by sending the National Guard. Just as President Eisenhower acted in Little Rock to uphold the rights and safety of citizens when local authorities refused, President Trump has stepped in where Portland's leaders failed.
He has provided the security and relief our community needed, but was denied by those entrusted to protect us.
God Bless you, President Trump!"
Thank God Trump is trying to help stop the massive crime and violence in these Democrat-run cities.
Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
