The Department of Defense has reportedly withdrawn the promotion of Rear Adm. Michael "Buzz" Donnelly following an investigation into drag queen shows allowed on the USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier between 2017 and 2018 under his command.
Donnelly, who had been nominated on June 18 by President Donald Trump for a promotion to vice admiral and an appointment as commander of the entire 7th Fleet - the Navy's largest overseas force - has reportedly had his promotion removed, a source with knowledge told The Daily Wire.

The report read:
Following inquiries from The Daily Wire about Donnelly and the drag queen shows he permitted on board the USS Ronald Reagan, a source at the Defense Department said that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is withdrawing Donnelly's nomination to lead the 7th Fleet.
Hegseth is looking for a new 7th Fleet commander, the source shared.
It went on:
Donnelly served as commanding officer of the aircraft carrier from April 2016 to September 2018, during which time Yeoman 2nd Class Joshua Kelley performed as a drag queen under the name "Harpy Daniels" at a department-sanctioned "Morale, Welfare, and Recreation" event on the aircraft carrier.

In 2023, Donnelly made headlines when Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) held up his promotion, arguing against his promotion and several taxpayer-funded Defense Department initiatives under former President Joe Biden's leadership, which he said had nothing to do with protecting the United States. One issue had to do with a policy of "providing three weeks of paid leave and reimbursement of travel expenses for military personnel and their dependents who wanted abortions," the outlet reported.
The report went on:
He called on the former Navy leadership in a May 2023 letter to name the officers responsible for funding and promoting drag queen performances.
The report also referenced a Daily Signal article from 2023, "Tuberville Blocking Promotion of Navy Captain Who Allowed Drag Shows Aboard USS Ronald Reagan," putting the responsibility of the drag queen shows squarely on Captain Donnelly.
Back in 2018, the usual legacy media suspects proudly covered "Harpy Daniels" performing during Donnelly's tour with such glowing headlines as "Navy drag queen 'Harpy Daniels' is serving looks — and the country," one NBC News headline read.
The Military Times also reported on it, with lots of photos from the drag queens' performance, with a shocking headline that read "Sailor by day, performer by night — meet the Navy's drag queen, 'Harpy Daniels."
President Donald Trump and Department of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth have made it very clear that their mission is to return patriotism to our armed forces and rid it of the LGBTQ+ woke pride crap brought on under Biden. This is just one more example of them making good on those promises.
Editor's Note: Thanks to President Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's leadership, the warrior ethos is coming back to America's military.
