Police in Fresno, California, have arrested a man they believe is responsible for shooting and killing three people today.
According to ABC News, police were alerted to a situation at 10:45 a.m. when ShotSpotter, a gunfire detection program, identified two gunshots. Several more gunshots were then detected close by.
The suspect, now identified as Kori Ali Muhammad, left the scene, but encountered a resident on the street. He fired at this person several times (but missed) before fleeing. After reloading his gun, he headed to another area where he shot and killed another person.
Officers say they saw a “black man running” from the scene, but he got to the ground as police neared. Muhammad is also wanted in the murder of a security guard last week.
ABC is currently reporting that the suspect did shout “allahu ackbar” and that local police have been in touch with the FBI, though they will not comment on possible terrorism motives.
