Wednesday morning, my RedState colleague Teri Christoph reported on the resounding Minnesota GOP Senate primary win for former NFL sideline reporter and political commentator Michele Tafoya:
Michele Tafoya, the Emmy-winning NFL sideline reporter who walked away from her NBC Sports gig in 2022 to pursue a life outside of sports broadcasting, defeated a large field of candidates to nab the Republican nomination in the Minnesota Senate primary. (And although Tafoya has earned the endorsement of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), President Trump did not endorse in the Minnesota primary.)
Tafoya bested former Navy SEAL and Marine Adam Schwarze, who was endorsed by the Republican Party of Minnesota, by a margin of 53.1 percent to 24.0 percent.
My biggest question is what was the Minnesota Republican Party thinking? Whatever it was, it's not hard to understand why they have not been able to flip a Senate seat or the governorship in over 20 years. In terms of electoral time, Norm Coleman and Tim Pawlenty were eons ago, and the fact that the local party has not been able to mount a contender of caliber speaks volumes.
Tafoya built her own team coalition and took the field; now, she's running with the ball.

After Democratic Socialist (DSA) Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong was kneecapped by the Democrat Party, I gave some advice to Republicans on how they can win in November over the DSA crazies as well as the pretend Democrat moderates:
Will they be able to tap into President Ronald Reagan, our aspirational example, and channel that happy warrior while detailing sound fiscal policy that will give voters relief from the purported affordability crisis? For those who didn't escape the DSA-foil, will those Republican challengers be able to expand on how capitalism and free markets give freedom that fuels joy and possibility? Can they be a credible contrast to the bitter cynicism of an El-Sayed or NY DSA congressional candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier?
Michele Tafoya is already checking all the boxes, and then some. Tafoya's platform, words, and manner all speak aspiration and hope. After the race was announced on Tuesday, Tafoya spoke with NewsNation's Katie Pavlich and affirmed that Minnesotans see her campaign as one of hope.

In Tafoya's victory statement, she defined the playing field, who got Minnesota into this mess, and how it can be righted.
"This isn’t about red versus blue. It’s common sense versus crazy," Tafoya said. "We will not reelect politicians who let criminals steal billions and treat accountability as optional. We deserve better, and it’s time we demand better."
And in this introductory video, she lays out common-sense policy which clearly defines the change that she offers as opposed to more of the same from her Democrat opponent, Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan:

Thanks to Tafoya's public persona and on-camera experience, she comes off fresh, articulate, and competent, without appearing rehearsed. This is going to serve her well in the debates. By contrast, Flanagan embodies who she is: a far-left loon who knows talking points and Marxist dogma, but has little grasp of actual policy and how, good or bad, it affects citizens' lives. Yet, Flanagan stands 10 toes down on her ideology and spouts it with a full chest.

Talk about being spoon-fed. Even with this softball approach, Flanagan couldn't even issue a credible response.
Minnesotans have not forgotten about the rampant fraud and Flanagan's partnership in its furtherance. If Tafoya continues to hammer that home, while striking this balance of a hopeful future for Minnesota if they choose differently, Minnesota could see a red wave it's been denied for far too long.
