Embattled Rep Cory Mills Now Under Federal Investigation, His Challengers Call for Him to Drop Out

Republican Rep. Cory Mills (FL-07) is reportedly under investigation from the Department of Justice. This is yet another strike against Mills. For the past eight months Mills has been under a House Ethics investigation for allegations of shady campaign finances, sexual misconduct, and domestic violence. With this latest whiff of misconduct, the walls appear to be closing in on Mills.

Mills was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2022, and he handily regained his seat in 2024 thanks to his status as a war hero and a rising star on the Republican bench. Should this latest investigation prove to have teeth, it is less likely Mills will see a third term.

A source familiar with the matter told Fox News that the DOJ is investigating the Florida lawmaker, though the specifics of what he is being investigated for are unknown.
Mills, who serves on the House Armed Services and Intelligence committees, has separately been under investigation by the House Ethics Committee regarding allegations of campaign finance violations, sexual misconduct, and dating violence.

Mills has also had the misfortune of running into the buzzsaw known as Nancy Mace (NC-01), his Republican colleague. In April, Mace filed an expulsion resolution against Mills, as part of her campaign to hold lawmakers accountable for sexual misconduct. Her thirst for this appears to exceed her thirst for attention, and Mills had long been in her crosshairs. The resolution was voted down, but Mace warned that her campaign to see Mills removed from Congress was not over.

Mills responded to the recent allegations on his X campaign account, and denied that any DOJ investigation is occurring. Mills blamed his political opponents for the oppo drop.

We just saw reports that Congressman Cory Mills is being investigated by the Department of Justice – on top of the House Ethics Committee investigation that’s been underway for eight months.
With the cost of gas, groceries, healthcare, and housing skyrocketing, it’s well past time we have a representative who’s willing to work for us – not for himself.

As has Mills' Republican challenger, former Florida news anchor Ryan Elijah, who is calling for Mills to suspend his reelection bid.

We will find out soon how the 7th District voters feel about all this. The Florida primary is slated for August 18, 2026.
