Shortly after the polls closed in South Carolina, Decision Desk HQ projected that Attorney General Alan Wilson had won the Republican nomination for Governor of South Carolina. At 72 percent of precincts reporting, the race wasn't even close. Wilson surpassed Lt. Gov. Pam Evette, 67 percent to 32 percent.

As RedState reported, President Donald Trump's coveted endorsement in the primary originally went to Lt. Gov. Pam Evette over District 1 Congresswoman Nancy Mace. However, after the June 9 primary went into a runoff between Wilson and Evette, President Trump issued his endorsement in the runoff race, praising both candidates as sound choices.
