Hot Takes: Newsom Compares Himself to Patrick Bateman, and It's the Biggest Self-Own

California governor and wannabe president Gavin Newsom continues to prove that President Donald Trump lives rent-free in his head. All he and his ditzy press team know how to do is try and mock anything Trump does. What's the expression? Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. All Team Newsom does with these supposed mockery posts is amplify Trump, and in many ways, make his game more attractive and even more epic. Gavin Newsom and the words "attractive" and "epic" cannot be said in the same breath with a straight face, though some have managed it (looking at you, Katie Couric).

But with Newsom's pretenses at poverty, dyslexia, and especially leadership, he's firmly on the JV team, where Trump is a decorated pro baller.

The latest proof: those memes now going viral, comparing Trump to Elvis. It's really gotten under Newsom's skin. He hates it so much that he and his team decided to embrace a comparison often made of Newsom.

For those unfamiliar, "Patrick Bateman" is the main character of a film called "American Psycho," based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis. The title gives it away, and if you've never seen it, you can probably find it on one streaming service or another.

As a former Californian, for decades, we have made this comparison of Hair Gel to Patrick Bateman, and not as a compliment. Fauxnalist Jonathan Karl even brought this up in a 2025 interview with Newsom, and Newsom still pretended not to get it.

In January, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, one of Trump's best Cabinet picks, even owned Newsom at the World Economic Forum in Davos, using the Patrick Bateman comparison to call out Newsom's sycophantic pandering.

But in order to own Trump, Newsom is suddenly owning this. Embracing the comparison to a fictitious rendering of a sociopathic serial killer is probably the best self-own.

Hello?! Is anyone awake?

"Cali MAGA Barbie" April Silverman is thinking what we all are.

Then Silverman questioned the sanity of his account handlers.

Rightly so.

But it's Eric Matheny who really knows what's up.

Chef's kiss, even down to the women. We have his first wife (now divorced), Kimberly Guilfoyle, who was prominent during the Trump 45 administration, but in Trump 47 was appointed as ambassador to Greece. Then there's the wife of Newsom's "best friend," who Newsom slept with when he was mayor of San Francisco. And of course, his First Partner and "Patricia Bateman" foil Jennifer Siebel Newsom.

Need I say more?

Shawn Ashers has beautifully articulated for us the hashtag #SMDH (Shaking My D@mn Head).

What's Hair Gel doing? He's finally admitting the truth. He destroyed families and small businesses over his two terms through his anti-child laws and ridiculous regulations. Newsom's coup de grâce was when he did this en masse through the COVID lockdowns, school shutdowns, and egregious distancing and mask mandates. Rules that, as the French Laundry debacle showed us, he himself couldn't even abide.

Newsom has screwed the California taxpayer. Justine Bateman has been on a tear lately, pointing out what eight years of Newsom have done to destroy the state.

The only triumph CA Gov Newsom has accomplished is losing billions of our tax dollars. If he runs for US President, don't let him anywhere near that office.

- 911 system ($450 million, below)

- Train to Nowhere ($17 billion gone)

- Fraudulent unemployment checks ($30 billion gone)

- There are more examples.

How this guy isn't in jail for failure to execute fiduciary responsibility with our tax dollars is a total mystery.

Finally, Newsom has allowed communities to be tortured thanks to his soft-on-crime Prop 47. Even when it was overturned in 2024, and theft, smash and grab robberies, and other crimes were once again classified as felonies through Prop. 36, Gov. Newsom has refused to fund its implementation.

So, yeah, it all tracks. Gavin Newsom/Patrick Bateman, who can tell the difference?

Certainly not the bright lights of Newsom and his comms crew.
