Democrats Circulate Ridiculous Theory Blaming Trump for Hamas' Assault on Israel

It was only a matter of time, wasn’t it? Whenever something catastrophic happens, such as the current barbaric attack on Israel by Hamas, folks on the left quickly brainstorm new and creative ways to blame former President Donald Trump.

The war in Israel is no different, apparently. Democrats on social media are dredging up old news in an effort to establish a connection between the former president and Hamas’ Saturday surprise attack on Israel. As is typically the case, their contentions are not only implausible, but they have not provided a shred of evidence to back it up.

Remember when Democrats were all in a tizzy because Trump, when he was president, allegedly shared classified intelligence with Russia that came from Israel? In May 2017, the former president came under fire for giving sensitive details about an ISIS plot with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Ambassador Sergey Kislyak. The information was believed to have come from Israeli intelligence. Folks on the left flipped out, claiming that Trump’s actions could have jeopardized the United States’ relationship with Israel, one of its closest allies.

With Israel’s war against Hamas in full swing, folks on the left are trying desperately to convince people that the information Trump allegedly gave to Russia somehow wound up in Iran’s hands, who then passed it on to Hamas to help them conduct the assault. The theory is about as crazy as a split pea soup sandwich, but they are running with it anyway:

Thom Hartmann, author and political commentator, posted on X, formerly Twitter, while sharing a 2017 article from The Washington Post: "Hamas apparently knew how to get around Israel's Iron Dome defenses. They probably learned this from Iran. Iran almost certainly got the information from Russia. And who gave it to Russia? Sure looks like it was Donald Trump, at the request of Putin."

Allison Gill, who tweets using the account for the Mueller, She Wrote podcast, added: "Don't forget: Trump gave Israeli intelligence to Russians in the Oval Office 6 years ago. Putin armed Iran in exchange for drones to attack Ukraine."

While sharing a link of its own reporting of Trump's handing over of sensitive materials, the Meidas Touch X account posted: "FLASHBACK: Trump shared classified intelligence from Israel with Russia—and admitted to it. Israeli intelligence feared it would end up in the hands of Iran."

"This isn't hard to follow," added musician and author Mikel Jollett. "Trump gave military intel to the Russians. The Russians, who are extremely close allies with Iran, gave it to Iran. Iran gave that information to Hamas. Hamas used it to attack Israel. This is why intel security matters. Republicans DO NOT CARE."

It is worth noting that former Vice President Mike Pence also tried to blame Trump and other Republicans for the assault, claiming that their non-interventionist stances emboldened the terrorist group.

Interestingly enough, President Joe Biden, who is actually in office at the moment, likely contributed far more to Hamas' ability to attack Israel than Trump ever did. If I didn’t know any better, I might be tempted to think these people are trying to distract from this issue.

For starters, we have the $6 billion that the Biden administration graciously gave to Iran over the past few weeks. RedState’s Nick Arama pointed out that while the money was supposedly intended only for humanitarian use, the funds are fungible. It means the cash could indirectly free up resources that Tehran could use to funnel more supplies, weapons, and resources to Hamas, which it has supported since the 1980s. Wouldn’t this be a more likely contributor than information Trump may or may not have given to Russia five years ago?

But that’s not all.

There is also the high probability that weapons the U.S. left behind in Afghanistan during Biden’s botched withdrawal effort could have ended up in Hamas’ hands.

A Newsweek report from June details a conversation with a commander in the Israeli military who worried that the weapons left in Afghanistan could have wound up in the hands of Israel’s enemies.

A high-ranking Israel Defense Forces (IDF) commander has told Newsweek that Israel is concerned over the risks of weapons provided by the United States and other Western nations to Ukraine ending up in the hands of Israel's foes in the Middle East, including Iran.

With experts too backing these worries, the situation could mark yet another chapter in a long legacy of U.S. arms shipments being diverted, empowering adversaries of both Israel and the U.S. in another restive region, while the focus of Western governments is on the volatile conflict playing out in Eastern Europe.

Yet, Democrats are still trying desperately to gaslight the public into believing Hamas’ incursion into Israel was partly Trump’s fault. This is clearly nothing more than a diversionary tactic intended to draw attention away from Biden’s apparent incompetence and how it might have contributed to the situation the world is witnessing in Israel. But if this is the best they have got, they might want to consider going back to the proverbial drawing board – or maybe they could just tell the truth for a change.
