Yet another poll is showing that Americans are sick and tired of President Joe Biden’s migrant crisis. Even further, they don’t believe the open borders propaganda coming from the Democrats and their comrades in the activist media. But will this finally be what pushes this administration to take the problem seriously?
An NPR poll revealed that not only do most Americans believe that the U.S. is dealing with an “invasion” at the southern border, but prefer former President Donald Trump’s policies to that of the current administration.
The NPR survey found that 54 percent of respondents believe “the United States is experiencing an invasion at the southern border.” Even further, 57 percent support a return of Trump’s immigration policies.
But wait, it gets even better!
When asked if “the U.S. is experiencing historic levels of migration, with immigrants flooding southern border towns like never before,” 63 percent of participants answered in the affirmative along with 54 percent of Democrats.
You read that right. Even a majority of Democrats believe the situation has gotten out of hand.
When asked if respondents favored “requiring asylum seekers at the southern U.S. border to remain in Mexico until an immigration court can hear their case,” 57 percent agreed.
Even more noteworthy is that only 39 percent agreed with “raising the number of immigrants allowed into the U.S. each year.” It was the least popular immigration policy in the survey.
The situation at the southern border continues to worsen as the Biden administration refuses to take meaningful action to address the matter. On Monday, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that it had 199,976 migrant encounters in July. Sources with the agency told Fox News that these numbers have exceeded two million, setting a new record. “The migrant crisis escalated around the time the Biden administration took office, jumping from around 72,000 encounters at the end of 2020 to 173,000 by March 2021. The numbers have not come close to dipping below the 150,000 encounters-a-month mark since then,” the news outlet reported.
Even more troubling is the fact that federal authorities are apprehending a disturbing number of individuals on terrorist watchlists at the southern border. A CBP report revealed that agents detained ten individuals with ties to terrorist groups last month. At this point, CBP has detained a total of 66 people who show up on the Terrorist Screening Dataset.
What is even more chilling about this development is that if the authorities apprehended 66 terrorists, how many more were able to evade capture? Unfortunately, even the threat of terrorism coming from the southern border does not appear to be enough motivation for the White House to take serious action.
Currently, red states are having to deal with the massive influx of asylum seekers and illegal immigrants attempting to gain entry into the country. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott resorted to busing these individuals to Washington, D.C., and New York City starting in April to make them feel the consequences of their open borders policies.
The mayors of New York City and the district have bitched and moaned about the move. Both have pleaded with the federal government to have the National Guard assist them in handling the influx of migrants into their cities courtesy of the Abbott Express™.
So far, this has not yet motivated these areas to take the Biden administration to task for forcing them to have to handle the migrants. Perhaps Abbott, and Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, who is also busing immigrants to these cities as well, should further expand their efforts to include even more blue cities. Perhaps at some point, the administration will have to listen when even open borders politicians are publicly calling for relief. It’s worth a shot, isn’t it?
