It didn’t take long for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to target President Trump again. In fact, it was only one week ago today that he was acquitted by the Senate.

This time, the Speaker is incensed about the President’s response to an excessive, ridiculous sentencing recommendation for his one-time campaign advisor Roger Stone. The federal prosecutors handling Stone’s case thought a seven to nine year sentence would be appropriate following his conviction on charges of making false statements and witness tampering. Oh, by the way, three of the four prosecutors had been members of Robert Mueller’s Special Counsel team.

Upon hearing the news, Trump sent out a tweet: “This is a horrible and very unfair situation. The real crimes were on the other side, as nothing happens to them. Cannot allow this miscarriage of justice!”

Throughout Tuesday, he sent additional tweets:

All starting to unravel with the ridiculous 9 year sentence recommendation!

And a swamp creature with ‘pull’ was just sentenced to two months in jail for a similar thing that they want Stone to serve 9 years for. A phony Mueller Witch Hunt disgrace. Caught!

Congratulations to Attorney General Bill Barr for taking charge of a case that was totally out of control and perhaps should not have even been brought. Evidence now clearly shows that the Mueller Scam was improperly brought & tainted. Even Bob Mueller lied to Congress!

Two months in jail for a Swamp Creature, yet 9 years recommended for Roger Stone (who was not even working for the Trump Campaign). Gee, that sounds very fair! Rogue prosecutors maybe? The Swamp!

In the meantime, DOJ officials had intervened to reduce what they also saw as an overly harsh and unwarranted sentencing recommendation. (I posted a detailed version of the full sequence of events here.)

The DOJ claims they made their decision to reduce Stone’s sentence prior to the time of Trump’s tweet. Needless to say, neither Pelosi, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) nor Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) believe that.

On Tuesday night, Pelosi tweeted: “By tweet @realDonaldTrump engaged in political interference in the sentencing of Roger Stone. It is outrageous that DOJ has deeply damaged the rule of law by withdrawing its recommendation. Stepping down of prosecutors should be commended & actions of DOJ should be investigated.”

Unfortunately, this won’t stop unless the Republicans can win back the House and keep the Senate in November.

There is a silver lining to all of this. After nearly four years of investigations, President Trump is still standing strong and he has a long list of accomplishments to tout.

The Democrats, foiled once again, are angry, bitter and well, just plain ridiculous. The greatest gift of all is the eternal video of the Speaker tearing up a copy of the President’s State of the Union address.

He is a winner. Pelosi is a buffoon.

In the video below, President Trump is questioned by reporters about the Roger Stone case. He tells them:

No I didn’t speak to the Justice… I would be able to do it if I wanted.  I have the absolute right to do it.  I stay out of things to a degree that people wouldn’t believe.  But I didn’t speak to him.  I thought  the recommendation was ridiculous.  I thought the whole prosecution was ridiculous.  And I look at others who haven’t been prosecuted or I don’t know where it is now.  But when you see that I thought it was an insult to our country and it shouldn’t happen.
