Get Woke, Get Fired

The time has finally come, it seems. The piper was never paid, and now the consequences are setting in.

One of my biggest points of contention with modern entertainment was how infested with ideologically obsessed leftists it was, and clearly, I'm not the only one who had an issue with it. Most of America did, because the products being sold with that infection didn't sell well... at all.

Much as they wished they lived in a leftist utopia where rewards and success came with the expression of anti-Western sentiment, we live in a capitalist society, and unlike the public sector, failing upward is only an option for so long. Eventually, the lack of money you bring in will make your personal price tag too high, no matter how much it is.

And that time has come. The woke infection is being purged from various companies, and not just because the cultural tide in America turned, but for the more solidified reason that they're just bad for business and costing too much.

As reported by That Park Place, layoffs are hitting Halo Studios hard just weeks after the disastrous launch of "Halo: Campaign Evolved," a game many are claiming is just the woke remake of the legendary video game "Halo: Combat Evolved."

As I wrote previously, the developers decided to do what the ideologically obsessed do to every piece of beloved art they touch: corrupt it, lessen it, and release it with a finger-wag to those who hate what they've done to it.

The layoffs haven't been officially announced by Microsoft, but many are noticing that many of the people who worked on the game have updated their LinkedIn profiles:

Among the screenshots circulating online are posts from Halo Studios employees discussing their departure from the company and announcing they’re now seeking new opportunities.

One producer, Paul Morris, wrote that after helping ship Halo: Campaign Evolved, they had been informed they were among those affected.

“Today, I learned my time at Halo Studios will be coming to an end following the successful launch of our latest game, Halo: Campaign Evolved,” he said.

Another employee reflected on spending more than six years working on the Halo franchise before unexpectedly finding himself looking for a new position.

As TPP reported, it's not known if Microsoft had planned these layoffs well before the release of the game or if the game just didn't meet expectations, but either way, these layoffs wouldn't be occurring if the studios under Microsoft's ownership were meeting expectations. In all honesty, I think the answer is "both."

Hilariously, as I was reading about this story, The Critical Drinker released a video detailing how the writers of "She-Hulk" are also proverbially putting the fries in the bag. Jessica Gao, head writer for "She-Hulk," reportedly attempted to power-play Marvel head Kevin Feige during the creation of the show. Gao was known for being a social justice-obsessed self-victimizer who apparently tried to throw her identity weight around and has now found herself without work for the last four years, apparently black listed from the industry.

This isn't necessarily a new pattern. Businesses that went woke and started going broke as a result have been laying off people for some time, sometimes in high-profile ways. However, I think it's interesting that the rumors that these layoffs were ideologically based were just rumors until now.

The people who are ruining the things you love are being canned directly. The studios and department heads that were perverting and corrupting creations made by better people than them are finally seeing the proverbial guillotine.

But while this is great news, I wouldn't go so far as to say we've won. Far from it, in fact.

Remember that these people don't lose; they just retreat, reassess, and try again with different tactics. No one should ever get comfortable around them, because they're driven by a radical idea, and ideas don't die. The best we can do is continue speaking out against them and depriving these corporations of money so long as they hire them.
