Harvard Continues to Watch Helplessly As Trump Rips and Tears Its Grants by Hundreds of Millions

The Trump administration is making it clear to Harvard that its days of churning out leftist activists are over and that it needs to clean up its act or lose its funding.

According to CNN, Trump is cutting an additional $450 million in federal grants, and that's on top of the $2.2 billion he already ripped from them:

“(E)ight federal agencies across the government are announcing the termination of approximately $450 million in grants to Harvard, which is in addition to the $2.2 billion that was terminated” previously, the White House’s Joint Task Force to Combat Anti-Semitism said Tuesday morning in a statement that called Harvard’s campus “a breeding ground for virtue signaling and discrimination.”

While Harvard has yet to respond to these cuts, Harvard did sue the Trump administration in April over the $2 billion funding freeze. In a statement released by the University's President Alan Garber, the nation's most elite university attempted to paint Trump as a villain who would hurt people with cancer and Alzheimer's disease with these cuts, while claiming it's working on trying to be better about its antisemitism problem.

"We acknowledge that we have unfinished business," said Garber. "We need to ensure that the University lives up to its ideals by taking concrete steps to reaffirm a culture of free inquiry, viewpoint diversity, and academic exploration; making changes to our disciplinary systems so they will be more consistent and more effective in ensuring that our students, faculty, and staff take responsibility for their actions; implementing measures to ensure that all members of our community are safe and respected; and adopting important adjustments to the ways we build community—continuing to focus on individuals and their unique characteristics rather than their race."

Garber also said that "No government – regardless of which party is in power – should dictate what private universities can teach, whom they can admit and hire, and which areas of study and inquiry they can pursue.”

The thing is, that's not what Trump is doing. He's just not allowing taxpayer money to go to a University that has taken a soft hand with hate and discrimination to a point where many of its own students don't feel safe on the campus.

“Perhaps Harvard should lose its Tax Exempt Status and be Taxed as a Political Entity if it keeps pushing political, ideological, and terrorist inspired/supporting ‘Sickness?’," wrote Trump in an April Truth Social post

The Trump administration launched investigations into Harvard Law after reports of racial discrimination surfaced.

In May, Linda McMahon, the Secretary of Education, sent a letter to Garber informing him that he should "no longer seek grants from the federal government, since none will be provided," and that Harvard will "cease to be a publicly funded institution."

Changes have been attempted to appease the Trump administration at Harvard, such as renaming its DEI office to something less offensive and forming task forces to root out antisemitism on campus, but these haven't moved the Trump administration in the least.

“There is a dark problem on Harvard’s campus, and by prioritizing appeasement over accountability, institutional leaders have forfeited the school’s claim to taxpayer support,” said Trump officials from the government task force to root out antisemitism.
