How the Democrats Could Overcome DOGE

"The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown." - H.P. Lovecraft

The human brain abhors knowledge gaps. These gaps elicit various types of emotions depending on the situation, but Cthulhu's creator nailed the most common response to something not being known, and that's fear. While some are brave enough to seek out the answers, for many, the response is "walk away" and "go to where you're comfortable."

The pull to walk away from the unknown and go to a place you know is so strong that too often, people will walk right back into a bad situation, just because they know it better. People will walk back into toxic relationships all the time because the mystery of what their life will be like outside of it scares them more than the abuse. Agoraphobes aren't born, they're created by people who consistently choose to stay in their tiny little part of the world instead of brave the outside.

As I write this, the fear of the unknown is the sharpest arrow in the Democrat's quiver at this moment. They want you to be afraid of all the changes happening in the government right now, and as such, they paint a picture with the help of the legacy media of a Trump administration that's out of control. Elon Musk and DOGE are running amok, destroying everything, and hurting the American people along the way!

Jason Chaffetz wrote a piece for Fox News titled "Democrats have made a fatal error opposing DOGE" in which he confidently notes Democrats are never going to live down their all-out resistance to cleaning out the government:

Democrats ultimately make a fatal error by opposing DOGE’s success rooting out the fraud with American’s taxpayer dollars. They appear to be for the fraud and waste. And without a viable, reasonable, common-sense alternative, their attacks fall on deaf ears and leave most to wonder, "What do Democrats really stand for?"

He's not wrong, but the aim is that Democrats won't have to live it down if they win, and they win by successfully terrifying people into believing that Musk has elected himself King and is reshaping the government as he pleases.

If they can truly harm Musk, then that could very well pave the way to harming Trump, and if they can harm Trump, then they can do serious damage to the Republican Party during the midterms.

They're hard at work on this. Every day a new piece of news seems to come out that's meant to frighten Americans away from DOGE finding corruption, waste, fraud, or bad employees.

The goal is simple: Make people feel like they were safer, and more in control when big government was just doing its thing. Despite the fact that it abused the people, wasted their money, attacked them, taxed them, and dehumanized them, the abusive relationship was better than what could potentially be happening with Musk and Trump. In that old relationship, you knew what to expect, but with Trump and Musk, so many scary things are happening and all of them are "dangerous."

It's real change, not the kind promised by politicians feeding you comfortable lies. Real change is scary and sometimes painful. Democrats are taking advantage of this, whispering in the ear of Americans, "This is too much for you. Come back to where it's safe and comfortable. Let go of the wheel and hand it back to us. Rest. Sleep."

I can't say that it's not working. There are plenty of people out there who found themselves panicking over the stock market when Trump was firing off tariffs around the world. As I wrote earlier this month, the left is in such a fearful state that they're actually vandalizing people's property. As I wrote then, this is done out of anger, but below that anger is a very real fear the Democrats and its media are fomenting.

To be sure, there is real concern with the unknown. In a way, we're in uncharted waters with some of the things Trump is doing, but we did vote for this. We decided to take this medicine, and the effects have been somewhat painful at times, but honestly, the best thing to do is sit back and let it take its effect. Don't welcome back the disease because you know it better than the cure.
