Democrats Are Trying to Adopt Trump's Abrasive Behaviors Without Understanding Why They're Endearing

If it appears that some Democrats are becoming even more offensive than usual, you're not wrong. While some of it's definitely stemming from the fact that there's a clear anger and desperation among the left, it's also an attempt at trying to do something that works for Republicans, namely Donald Trump.

However, like most things coming from the left nowadays, it's a pale imitation of the real thing.

One Democrat, in particular, who is attempting to be the best Trump she can, is Texas Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett. As RedState has been covering, Crockett's rhetoric is often ugly, and even ventures into the violent. She said Cruz needed to be "knocked over the head," and said Elon Musk needed to be "taken down," which AG Pam Bondi issued a warning to her over.

Recently, she referred to Gov. Greg Abbott as "Hot Wheels," which is supposed to be offensive in the minds of the Democrats, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Abbott wearing a shirt that says "Hot Wheels" on it soon, because it just kinda sounds cool, to be honest.

Democrats are absolutely in love with Crockett for her willingness to "go there." As the Washington Examiner noted, the left can't get enough of her, and that includes the media:

Despite only being in her second term in the House, Crockett has compiled a long record of hateful, inflammatory, and unprofessional comments. She also happens to be a hot commodity in the Democratic Party right now. She’s a fixture on Democrat-friendly airwaves, served as a national co-chairwoman on Harris’s campaign, and is frequently a featured speaker at events such as the one this week. No single Democrat has been boosted by liberal media and the Democratic Party’s activist base during Trump’s second term more than Crockett.

I think it's pretty clear that the left believes they found their own Trump-like weapon. Crockett is going to tell it like it is, and she doesn't care who gets offended by it, ya know, just like Trump!

Only they're missing a key component.

Trump can easily be described as abrasive in many situations. This was especially seen during his first term, which was one of the reasons Trump became so popular. His ability to go on the offensive to the point of being unnecessarily rude was made-for-TV, and while it might have split many Republicans on him in 2016, it obviously served him well enough.

Fast-forward to 2024, and Trump is still Trump, but his ability to go on the offensive is a lot more focused, and no wonder. The man was attacked relentlessly since he came down the escalator, leading up to him being charged with felonies and government officials raiding his wife's panty drawer.

But Trump has something that Crockett doesn't have. Actually, it's two somethings.

The first is charm. Trump can belittle and insult, be overly direct and blunt, but he's capable of balancing it out with kindness, understanding, and empathy. He can even turn people he insulted and belittled into friends once the dust settles because he's capable of reaching out with a respectful hand once the fight is done.

The left largely hasn't demonstrated this ability. There are exceptions, and some of those exceptions now sit on his cabinet.

Crockett hasn't demonstrated any ability or willingness to put the fangs and the venom away at all. She's just been nasty through and through, which may endear nasty people, but for everyone else, it's off-putting.

The other thing is that Trump really only draws his verbal guns when it's in service to the people in some capacity. Even the insults and line-crossing he did during the 2016 election could retrospectively be viewed as him doing whatever it took to get into a place of power and influence so he could start changing things for the better.

Now, verbal attacks are often directed at people who actively try to subvert the will of the American people, belittle us, lie to us, and work to stop American progress.

For many, Trump is a bully who only bullies the bullies. Crockett simply comes off as a bully.

Democrats don't seem to understand this, at least not yet. They see combativeness toward anyone in their way as a virtue. A goal in and of itself. Trump sees his combativeness as a necessary tool that he can holster or draw at need.

This is likely a lesson Crockett and her ilk will never learn, and given the true nature of people like her, I hope they never do.
