Changing with the political winds is one of the things Democrats do best, and the closer you get to the top, the more bendable you become.

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is one such bendable Democrat who is currently fighting President Donald Trump and the Republicans tooth and nail on what we’re going to do for the border.

As Ryan Saavedra of the Daily Wire pointed out, however, Schumer wasn’t always against the Republicans on the border. In fact, during the time of the Obama administration in 2009, Schumer sounded much like a Republican sounds today.

According to Saavedra, while giving an address at the 6th Annual Immigration Law and Policy Conference at Georgetown University, Schumer was stating principles behind border legislation that he wanted to get passed:

“The first of these seven principles is that illegal immigration is wrong, plain and simple,” Schumer said. “When we use phrases like ‘undocumented workers,’ we convey a message to the American people that their government is not serious about combating illegal immigration, which the American people overwhelmingly oppose.”

“People who enter the United States without our permission are illegal aliens, and illegal aliens should not be treated the same as people who entered the United States legally,” Schumer continued. “Any immigration solution must recognize that we must do as much as we can to gain operational control of our borders as soon as possible.”

According to 2018 Chuck Schumer, 2009 Chuck Schumer may fall somewhere into the category of racist and xenophobic!

But it even goes further according to Saavedra. Schumer highlights the need for a barrier on our southern border due to the fact that it prevents people from entering illegally:

“The American people need to know that, because of our efforts in Congress, our border is far more secure today than it was when we began debating comprehensive immigration reform in 2005,” Schumer stated. “Between 2005 and 2009, a vast amount of progress has been made on our borders and ports of entry.”

“This progress includes … construction of 630 miles of border fence that create a significant barrier to illegal immigration on our southern land border,” Schumer explained.

We can safely assume that the left has changed its positions on everything in this social justice driven era of leftist politics because that’s what makes them electable now, but once again we have proof that the Democrats know full well that the positions they support are wrong and damaging.

Yet they continue to push them.

Someone is more interested in getting a taxpayer-funded paycheck than looking after the taxpayers.
