This weekend was deeply problematic for the press as they had to contend with being completely wrong in real time. After much coverage of the tensions between Israel and Iran, in what can only be described as “bloviating”, many had to scramble once reality set in. Many a pundit was declaring that President Trump was going to be ineffectual and not willing to act, and then suddenly they had to change course and address the fact that he had actually gone forward with the plan to bomb Iran’s nuclear program.
So we watched as the people who insisted we would not conduct the missions turned around and said we should not have gone in, and that the mission did not accomplish its goals. Meanwhile, the Iranian nuke program was smoldering, and a ceasefire was announced. It led to a barrage of coverage that was uniform in the fashion that President Trump was in the wrong, after so many were shown to have been incorrect.
Now, crack one open and savor some outmoded media malpractice and misinformation.
